Saturday 11/5/2007: Boraulf (RIV) and Hammershaker (NUM) win Gandalf Pitcher Award The Shire Conference Gandalf Pitcher Award winner was announced today, with Rivendell's southpaw Boreathor Boraulf taking home the desired trophy. He certainly earned it, he struck fear into hitters all year long. His ERA of 2.62 helped him to a 24-7 record this year. He struck out 324 and walked 57 in 305.1 innings. Boreathor has pitched 2 shutouts and 7 complete games. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! Boraulf wins the award for the 3rd time in his 12-year career. The 2007 Mordor Conference Gandalf Pitcher Award winner is from Numenor this year. Prilak Hammershaker put together impressive numbers on the mound this season as well. This season Hammershaker compiled an ERA of 2.41, going 22-10 in 42 starts. He fanned 266 while giving up 219 hits in 283.2 innings. He's 1st in the Mordor Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! Hammershaker wins the award for the 2nd time in his 5-year career. |

The Shire Conference shared this opinion and names the 25 year old the Sam Gamgee Batter winner! This year *Squishmasher drove in 130 and scored 124 runs while batting .345 with 45 taters. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 4th in RBI! A season for the ages earned Misty Mountain's leftfielder Isilborn Imrilron the Mordor Conference Sam Gamgee Batter this year. His season numbers are: .327 AVG, 192 hits, 30 doubles, 3 triples and 59 bombs, along with 134 RBI and 112 runs scored. He's 5th in the Mordor Conference in batting, 1st in homeruns and 2nd in RBI! Imrilron wins the award for the 3rd time in his 9-year career. |
Saturday 11/5/2007: Peatfingers and Orebearer receive Frodo Rookie Award Samwise Peatfingers was named the Shire Conference Frodo Rookie Award winner today. Bucklebury's first baseman put up pretty good numbers for a rookie this year. This 24 year old kid will probably have a long and successful career! His season numbers are: .297 AVG, 196 hits, 21 doubles, no triples and 40 bombs, along with 141 RBI and 84 runs scored. He's 2nd in the Shire Conference in RBIs and 5th in homeruns! Getting an award is a nice way to start a career. Numenor's Misil Orebearer smiled as he was named the Mordor Conference Frodo Rookie Award winner. This season Orebearer compiled an ERA of 2.92, going 21-2 in 39 starts. He fanned 220 while giving up 221 hits in 262 innings. He has 2 complete games and 2 shutouts. He's 8th in the Mordor Conference in ERA and 2nd in wins! |
Friday 10/21/2007: Begrin *Starsley drills 5 hits GREY HAVENS - On Friday, Grey Havens' shortstop Begrin *Starsley displayed his sensational ability to handle the bat against Misty Mountain, punishing their pitchers with five hits. Number 1 in the 1st inning accounted for a two-run double. His 3rd hit, a two-run homerun off Tavus Legithraviel in the 6th inning, landed an estimated 400 feet from home plate. A 399 foot drive to left-center marked his 5th hit, a three-run homerun off Vamsh Ratchewer in the 8th inning. He collected singles in the 4th inning and in the 7th inning (two RBIs). Begrin scored 3 runs, and he collected 9 RBI as well! |
Tuesday 10/4/2007: Misty Mountain's Bugbearripper severely injured MISTY MOUNTAIN - Misty Mountain is without its right-hander Eralak Bugbearripper for at least 6-7 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Theodore *Nazgul in a game against Dunharrow. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being taken to a local hospital, Bugbearripper was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Ruptured Tricep Tendon. This season Bugbearripper compiled an ERA of 2.64, going 18-7 in 37 starts. He fanned 223 while giving up 189 hits in 235.2 innings. He's 4th in the Mordor Conference in ERA and 4th in wins! |
Monday 10/3/2007: *the Obtuse (MRA) and Elrilas (DUN) win P.O.W. award Moria's third baseman Gabzog *the Obtuse had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Shire Conference Player of the Week. Gabzog pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .400 with 5 HR and 8 RBI while slugging 1.400. Kimvia Elrilas wins his 1st Player of the Week award. Mordor Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Kimvia went 8 for 20 (.400), while hitting 2 HR and collecting 7 RBI. |

Saturday 10/1/2007: Gondolin's Orcdelver earns Batter of the Month award The Shire Conference Batter of the Month award goes to Mefur Orcdelver, Gondolin's starting third baseman. Mefur went 38 for 121 (.314), while hitting 10 HR and collecting 30 RBI. This year Orcdelver drove in 100 and scored 84 runs while batting .290 with 33 bombs. The Batter of the Month award in the Mordor Conference goes to Dagorlad's Marus *Alu this time, as the shortstop displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Marus pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .444 with 4 and 24 RBI while slugging .626. His season features a batting average of .293 (166 hits in 566 AB), 21 doubles, 6 triples and 10 taters. *Alu collected 69 RBI and 94 runs as well. |
Thursday 9/29/2007: Moria's Gabzog *the Obtuse has great day, hits three longballs GONDOLIN - Gabzog *the Obtuse powered Moria to a 10-2 win over Gondolin. He did it in style by homering three times. In the 1st inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Beogast Belol. His 2nd shot, a two-run homerun off Eeolbo Eläril in the 7th inning, cleared the fence in right-center. His 3rd blast, a two-run homerun off Eeolbo Eläril in the 9th inning, landed an estimated 388 feet from home plate. Overall he finished 3 for 5, scoring three times and collecting 5 RBI. His homerun total this year is 22, along with 87 RBI. Gandaudur Eowöldor was the last player to hit 3 homeruns in a game, doing it 8/7/2007. |

Sunday 9/25/2007: Vorseen Timbor NO-HITS Dunharrow GONDOR - With his best stuff going, Gondor's Vorseen Timbor overmatched the opposing hitters all day long. Dunharrow had no chance, getting NO hits against the right-hander. Timbor (9-11) fanned 9 and walked 1, throwing 111 pitches. 'Wow, what a nice day. I guess I had a good breakfast today. That's a dream coming true for me!' Seathor Radithor helped Timbor at the plate, he went 3 for 4, going deep twice, scoring 2 runs and collecting 3 RBI. The final score of the game was 8-0. |
Sunday 9/25/2007: Dolok Bonemangler out for 7 weeks NUMENOR - When it rains, it pours. Numenor's southpaw Dolok Bonemangler will not pitch for at least 7 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Misty Mountain where he left the field in the 4th inning. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Pulled Tricep Muscle. Graniteslinger helped his team with an average of .360 and 11 RBI in 25 at bats. While compiling an on base percentage of .293, Valin hit .253 and slugged .504. He has collected 119 runs batted in this year. He's 4th in the Shire Conference in RBIs and 5th in homeruns! Wednesday 9/14/2007: Carrock's Goragol out for the season CARROCK - Carrock's catcher Greogrin Goragol will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Carrock and Wilderland. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly Goragol collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Torn Back Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. His season numbers are: .312 AVG, 134 hits, 34 doubles, 3 triples and 26 taters, along with 71 RBI and 89 runs scored. |

Monday 9/5/2007: Boreathor Boraulf quiets Bree bats with shutout BREE - Great days are rare. But not for Rivendell's left-hander Boreathor Boraulf. Bree found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just 2 hits. It's his 2nd shutout this season, and the 21st time he has done it in his career. 'I really like to play baseball, and I love the way I was able to play it today.' Boraulf (19-6) fanned 8 and walked 3, throwing 117 pitches. Ruzdug the Wicked provided Rivendell with the offense Boraulf needed as he stroked 3 hits in 4 AB, hitting a homerun, hitting a double. Rivendell scored 3 runs on 5 hits. |

Tuesday 8/30/2007: Nasil Oresplitter turns in great performance against Dunharrow DEAD MARSHES - All you need to win is a dominating pitching performance. And Dead Marshes' Nasil Oresplitter did so today, in a 2-hit shutout against Dunharrow. Oresplitter (14-3) struck out 6 and issued 2 BB, throwing 64 of 107 pitches for strikes. 'I felt early that I was on top of my game. Fortunately I was able to keep that feeling the entire game.' Dead Marshes' third baseman Sruulak Mooncutter finished with 1 hit in 3 AB, blasting a homerun, and driving in 2 runs. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Oresplitter. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Ballscarer will probaby miss 5-6 weeks. Mirkwood wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. He struck out 32 hitters in his 6 starts, putting together a record of 4-0 while pitching 32 innings. His ERA in July was 1.85. Zuthor pitched a shutout as well. Zuthor has a record of 7-8 this season, with an ERA of 3.74. In 137 Innings he was able to strike out 89 batters. Zuthor has pitched 3 shutouts and 4 complete games. Sunday 7/31/2007: Hoisil Goldfist punishes Dagorlad with five hits, cycle DAGORLAD - Hoisil Goldfist hits 'em where they ain't. Dagorlad certainly agrees as Weathertop's centerfielder unloaded five hits and hitting for the cycle. A single in the 1st off Gromwakh the Masher accounted for his 1st hit. His 2nd hit was a RBI double off Gromwakh the Masher in the 3rd inning. In the 4th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Gromwakh the Masher. Hit number 4 followed in the 6th inning, a RBI triple. Tuesday 7/19/2007: Season ending injury strikes Carrock's *Rider CARROCK - Carrock's second baseman Trik *Rider will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Carrock and Rivendell. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly *Rider collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. *Rider was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Torn Posterior Cruciate Ligament. He has hit 16 bombs while batting .390 this season. His 134 hits and 36 walks add up to a .451 on-base percentage. Monday 7/18/2007: Player of the Week honors go to Imrilron and Bloodaxe The Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Isilborn Imrilron, Old Forest's starting leftfielder. Isilborn pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .455 with 4 HR and 8 RBI while slugging 1.091. This year Imrilron drove in 81 and scored 66 runs while batting .342 with 35 bombs. Eäril-Gaviel (2-6) struck out 8 and walked 2, throwing 67 of 108 pitches for strikes. 'I really like to play baseball, and I love the way I was able to play it today.' The best month of May in the Mordor Conference certainly had Grey Havens' right-hander Glosil Foerender, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. Thursday 5/12/2007: Carrock's Trik *Rider gets the cycle CARROCK - Trik *Rider hits 'em where they ain't. Gondolin certainly agrees as Carrock's second baseman unloaded four hits and hitting for the cycle. Number 1 in the 3rd inning accounted for a double. A single in the 4th off Henus Goblinmaster accounted for his 2nd hit. His 3rd hit was a triple off Henus Goblinmaster in the 6th inning. His 4th hit, a two-run homerun off Tigseen Tadriendir in the 7th inning, cleared the fence in right field. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Trik scored 3 runs, and he collected 3 RBI as well! He's having a very good season so far, batting .367. He becomes the 14th player in league history collect at least a single, double, triple and a homerun in a single game. On 9/3/2006, Elrond *Hubbard was the last player to hit for the cycle. |
Monday 5/9/2007: Glebrildur (CAR) and Ettinripper (MIN) win P.O.W. award The Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Siloja Glebrildur, Carrock's starting leftfielder. Siloja was on fire, hitting .577 with 3 HR and 6 RBI. Glebrildur has hit 10 homeruns this year while batting .371. He adds 9 doubles, along with 25 runs scored. He's 3rd in the Shire Conference in batting! It's the 1st time that the Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Minas Morgul's rightfielder Kadish Ettinripper. He hit .577 with 6 RBI and slugged .769 in 26 at bats. Ettinripper has walked 3 times this year and posts a .407 OBP. While batting .385, 45 for 117, he has driven in 15 runs. He's 2nd in the Mordor Conference in batting! |
Friday 5/6/2007: Rohan has no chance in a 2-hitter by Legan Isauhir ROHAN - Legan Isauhir had his best stuff going, and Rohan hitters were chanceless. Dead Marshes' right-hander fired a 2-hitter, his 2nd shutout of the season. Isauhir (2-2) fanned 5 and walked 6, throwing 114 pitches. 'Things like that happen. You take the mound and everything works. My velocity was pretty good today and I guess it showed.' Dead Marshes' second baseman Mauhur *the Looter finished 3 for 5, blasting a homerun, scoring three runs and driving in 2 runs. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Isauhir. Dead Marshes improved its record to 19-13, scoring 10 runs on 14 hits. |
Monday 5/2/2007: Lake Town's Nilad out for 7 weeks LAKE TOWN - Lake Town's catcher Thuralia Nilad will miss about 7 weeks after being knocked unconscious in a collision at home plate, in the 6th inning of the game between Lake Town and Mirkwood. He was helped off the field after the incident. Nilad will miss at least 7 weeks. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Broken Cheekbone. Surgery will be performed next week. This year Nilad drove in 11 and scored 17 runs while batting .289 with 4 homeruns. |
Monday 5/2/2007: Bywater's Facecrusher wins Player of the Week award It's the 1st time that the Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Bywater's pitcher Kirg Facecrusher. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 1.53 while going 2-0. He hurled a shutout as well. Kirg has a record of 4-0 this season, with an ERA of 2.73. In 52.2 Innings he was able to strike out 41 batters. Kirg has pitched one shutout and one complete game. He's 6th in the Shire Conference in ERA and 3rd in wins! The Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Nuumsh Gnomeraper, one of Dagorlad's best starting pitchers. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 1.06 while going 2-0. A complete game added to his brilliant performance. |
Sunday 5/1/2007: Kirg Facecrusher dominates Moria, gives up just 2 hits BYWATER - Moria's hitters were dominated by Bywater's Kirg Facecrusher. He gave up just 2 hits in recording his 1st shutout of the season. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches.' Facecrusher (4-0) fanned 4 and walked 1, throwing 99 pitches. Bywater's centerfielder Vorzava Tinond collected 1 hit in 3 trips to the plate, blasting a homerun. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Facecrusher. The final score of the game was 2-0. |
Sunday 5/1/2007: Grailas (LT) and Irontearer (ROH) win monthly pitcher award Winner of this months Shire Conference Pitcher of the Month award is Lake Town's Gwomer Grailas. He went 6-0 in April and finished the month with an ERA of 1.56. He struck out 50 in 52 innings. The best month of April in the Mordor Conference certainly had Rohan's right-hander Libur Irontearer, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. He struck out 49 hitters in his 7 starts, putting together a record of 5-0 while pitching 49 innings. His ERA in April was 0.96. |
Sunday 5/1/2007: Batter of the Month award winners announced Old Forest's leftfielder Isilborn Imrilron had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Shire Conference Batter of the Month. Isilborn was on fire, hitting .337 with 10 homeruns and 24 RBI. The Mordor Conference Batter of the Month award goes to Golligast Gandulbo, Grey Havens' starting first baseman. Golligast pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .357 with 9 and 32 RBI while slugging .673. |
Tuesday 4/26/2007: Dejahth Anylith blanks Minas Tirith with a 2-hitter BREE - Bree's right-hander Dejahth Anylith is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Minas Tirith found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Anylith 1st shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 8th shutouts in his career. Anylith (3-2) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking 2, throwing 123 pitches. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' The hitting star for Bree was catcher Lobur Oathdelver, he stroked 2 hits in 4 AB, hitting a homerun, scoring twice and collecting 2 RBI. Monday 4/25/2007: Lómebrildur and Armormasher win Player of the Week award It's the 4th time that the Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Bree's leftfielder Thaira Lómebrildur. He hit .385 with 13 RBI and slugged 1.231 in 26 at bats. He now has homered in 3 consecutive games as well! Lómebrildur has walked 8 times this year and posts a .347 OBP. While batting .295, 26 for 88, he has driven in 24 runs. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in RBIs and 1st in homeruns! Boran Armormasher from Isengard wins his 3rd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Mordor Conference. Armormasher helped his team with an average of .600 and 10 RBI in 25 at bats. Armormasher has hit 2 homeruns this year while batting .400. He adds 6 doubles, along with 14 runs scored. Friday 4/22/2007: Ulor Témir fires 2-hitter against Dead Marshes DEAD MARSHES - Dead Marshes' bats were sleeping, and Dol Guldur's Ulor Témir gave them no chance to wake up. He gave up just 2 hits in recording his 1st shutout of the season. Témir (2-3) struck out 6 and walked 1, throwing 62 of 98 pitches for strikes. 'Things like that happen. Wednesday 4/20/2007: Beogast Belol fires 1-hitter against Minas Tirith GONDOLIN - All you need to win is a dominating pitching performance. And Gondolin's Beogast Belol did so today, in a 1-hit shutout against Minas Tirith. Roran Shieldmover spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he singled with no outs in the 5th inning. Belol (2-1) fanned 5 and walked none, throwing 95 pitches. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can. And my best stuff was too much for them today.' The hitting star for Gondolin was leftfielder Denar Axecutter, he stroked 3 hits in 3 AB, homering once, doubling once, scoring two runs and collecting 3 RBI. Gondolin scored 8 runs on 10 hits. |
Monday 4/18/2007: Isengard's *Orithil wins Player of the Week award The Shire Conference's best player of the week was Lake Town's Gwomer Grailas, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. Grailas was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 1.10. Along the way he struck out 15 in 16.1 innings. A complete game added to his brilliant performance. Opposing players hit .191 against Gwomer this season. While posting an ERA of 1.71 he went 4-0 in 4 starts, fanning 27 and walking 4 hitters. He's 3rd in the Shire Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! The Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Olorin *Orithil, Isengard's starting centerfielder. Olorin pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .429 with 5 HR and 9 RBI while slugging 1.000. His season numbers are: .344 AVG, 22 hits, 3 doubles, no triples and 6 homeruns, along with 13 RBI and 12 runs scored. |
Sunday 4/17/2007: Minas Morgul's Myrtai Elvywyn ropes five hits NUMENOR - Minas Morgul's first baseman Myrtai Elvywyn accomplished a difficult feat in a 10-3 win over Numenor, drilling five hits to improve his career batting average to .261! His 1st hit, off Gollogrin Gaum in the 1st inning, was a three-run homerun and cleared the fence in right field. In the 6th inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Gollogrin Gaum. He had singles in the 3rd , in the 7th and in the 9th . Myrtai scored 4 runs, and he collected 4 RBI as well! His 5 hit performance increases his batting average to .240. Minas Morgul scored 10 runs on 11 hits. |
Friday 4/15/2007: Legan Isauhir shuts out Dol Guldur on 2 hits DEAD MARSHES - It was a great day for Dead Marshes' right-hander Legan Isauhir. The 27-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against Dol Guldur on Friday. 'I didn't feel that I had good stuff while warming up. But it got better the more I threw the ball. I guess I was lucky.' Isauhir (1-0) struck out an astounding 14 and walked 2, throwing 70 of 111 pitches for strikes. Sordor Glóthien provided Dead Marshes with the offense Isauhir needed as he finished with 5 hits in 5 AB, hitting a homerun, scoring FOUR times and driving in 2 runs. Friday 4/15/2007: Legeron Iseomer (ROH) will miss 5 weeks ROHAN - When it rains, it pours. Rohan's ace Legeron Iseomer will not pitch for at least 5 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Isengard where he left the field in the 3rd inning. Bone Chips Elbow was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. Opposing players hit .200 against Legeron this season. While posting an ERA of 2.53 he went 1-2 in 4 starts, fanning 21 and walking 1 hitters. He has one complete game and one shutout. |
