Sunday 11/6/2008: Rivendell's Boraulf earns Gandalf Pitcher Award Boreathor Boraulf will never forget this year. His dominating season convinced the Shire Conference to name Rivendell's left-hander the Gandalf Pitcher Award winner of 2008. Boreathor has a record of 23-9 this season, with an ERA of 2.53. In 302 Innings he was able to strike out 279 batters. Boreathor has pitched 5 shutouts and 9 complete games. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! Boraulf wins the award for the 4th time in his 13-year career. The Mordor Conference Gandalf Pitcher Award winner was announced today as well, with Numenor's right-hander Prilak Hammershaker taking home the desired trophy. He certainly earned it, he struck fear into hitters all year long. In 41 starts this year Prilak struck out 255 batters in 289.2 innings of work. His ERA is 2.08, his record 25-5. Prilak has pitched 4 shutouts and 6 complete games. He's 1st in the Mordor Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! Hammershaker wins the award for the 3rd time in his 6-year career. |
Sunday 11/6/2008: *Squishmasher and Imrilron win Sam Gamgee Batter A season for the ages earned Rivendell's third baseman Loopy *Squishmasher the Shire Conference Sam Gamgee Batter this year. His season features a batting average of .360 (206 hits in 572 AB), 39 doubles, 2 triples and 38 homeruns. *Squishmasher collected 128 RBI and 115 runs as well. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in batting, 5th in homeruns and 3rd in RBI! *Squishmasher wins the award for the 2nd time in his 5-year career. It was a day to remember for Minas Morgul's Isilborn Imrilron, who won the Mordor Conference Sam Gamgee Batter today. It put the finishing touches on what has been a tremendous season for the slugger. Imrilron has walked 69 times this year and posts a .413 OBP. While batting .342, 207 for 605, he has driven in 139 runs. He's 1st in the Mordor Conference in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 1st in RBI! Imrilron wins the award for the 4th time in his 10-year career. |
Sunday 11/6/2008: Frodo Rookie Award winners announced The Shire Conference Frodo Rookie Award winner was announced today, with Carrock's pitcher Sillla Glebrilad earning the trophy for putting up the best numbers among rookies in his league. This season Glebrilad compiled an ERA of 3.52, going 19-12 in 38 starts. He fanned 145 while giving up 281 hits in 263.2 innings. Sillla has pitched 4 shutouts and 7 complete games. He's 4th in the Shire Conference in wins! The 2008 Mordor Conference Frodo Rookie Award winner is from Isengard this season. Maltame Rethiel put together impressive numbers for a rookie en route to win the first major award of his career. Let's hope more will follow for this 24 year old ballplayer. Maltame is hitting .318 this year, with 157 hits in 493 at bats. He has driven in 94 runs, slugging .485. He's 8th in the Mordor Conference in batting! |
Wednesday 10/5/2008: Isengrim Baggins out for 6 weeks WILDERLAND - Wilderland is without its lefty Isengrim Baggins for at least 6 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Galogorn Elvol in a game against Bucklebury. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Wilderland wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Baggins had suffered a Ruptured Tricep Tendon. Opposing players hit .260 against Isengrim this season. While posting an ERA of 4.95 he went 3-14 in 25 starts, fanning 125 and walking 53 hitters. |
Tuesday 10/4/2008: Pimth Gäldor out for 5-6 weeks BUCKLEBURY - Bucklebury's Pimth Gäldor suffered a serious injury Tuesday in a game against Mirkwood. Gäldor fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help. He will miss probably 5-6 weeks. Bucklebury wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Gäldor had suffered a Strained Back Muscle. This year Gäldor drove in 109 and scored 115 runs while batting .249 with 33 taters. |
Monday 10/3/2008: Player of the Week honors go to Branchwielder and Imrilron The Player of the Week award in the Shire Conference goes to Gondolin's Waldur Branchwielder this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. He had an on base percentage of .545 and hit .550, while driving in 5 runs. The Player of the Week award in the Mordor Conference goes to Minas Morgul's Isilborn Imrilron this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Imrilron helped his team with an average of .364 and 11 RBI in 22 at bats. His season features a batting average of .342 (200 hits in 584 AB), 29 doubles, 2 triples and 51 taters. Saturday 10/1/2008: Rivendell's Elfplate earns Pitcher of the Month award Mundin Elfplate couldn't have pitched much better than he did in September, and the Shire Conference thought so as well, naming the right-hander Pitcher of the Month. His ERA of just 1.60 helped him to a 5-0 record in September. He worked 45 innings, striking out 63 hitters while walking 19. Mundin also fired a shutout. Opposing players hit .178 against Mundin this season. While posting an ERA of 3.96 he went 16-10 in 31 starts, fanning 231 and walking 108 hitters. He has one complete game and one shutout. Numenor's pitcher Prilak Hammershaker is the Mordor Conference winner of the Pitcher of the Month award in September. He struck out 53 hitters in his 7 starts, putting together a record of 4-1 while pitching 53 innings. His ERA in September was 1.27. His ERA of 2.04 helped him to a 25-5 record this year. He struck out 246 and walked 46 in 278 innings. He has 6 complete games and 4 shutouts. He's 1st in the Mordor Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! |
Saturday 10/1/2008: Batter of the Month award winners announced The Batter of the Month award in the Shire Conference goes to Moria's Shatai Githrarith this time, as the rightfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Shatai went 35 for 81 (.432), while hitting 13 HR and collecting 26 RBI. While compiling an on base percentage of .394, Shatai hit .328 and slugged .663. He has collected 102 runs batted in this year. He's 5th in the Shire Conference in batting! The Mordor Conference's best player of the month was Minas Morgul's Isilborn Imrilron, who wins the award for the 5th time in his career. Isilborn went 35 for 100 (.350), while hitting 15 HR and collecting 32 RBI. This year Imrilron drove in 130 and scored 124 runs while batting .341 with 50 homeruns. He will miss probably 6 weeks. *the Looter was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Pulled Anterior Cruciate Ligament. *the Looter has hit for a .298 average this season. Monday 9/26/2008: Lothlorien's Elrymbor wins Player of the Week award Deagol *Fishslapper from Bree wins his 1st Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Shire Conference. He had an on base percentage of .607 and hit .607, while driving in 8 runs. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 12 game hitting streak right now. Deagol is hitting .294 this year, with 139 hits in 473 at bats. He has driven in 76 runs, slugging .482. It's the 2nd time that the Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Lothlorien's pitcher Freodriel Elrymbor. Elrymbor was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00. Saturday 9/24/2008: Nasil Oresplitter pitches his 2nd shutout of the season NUMENOR - Dead Marshes' Nasil Oresplitter overmatched the opposing hitters all day long. Numenor had no chance, collecting just 2 hits against the lefty. Oresplitter (17-8) struck out an astounding 14 and walked 2, throwing 67 of 107 pitches for strikes. 'I was hitting my spots. Now I'll start concentrating on my next start, and hopefully it will work again.' Peromer Moraman provided Dead Marshes with the offense Oresplitter needed as he stroked 2 hits in 3 AB, and driving in 2 runs. The final score of the game was 3-0. |
Tuesday 9/20/2008: Vriurk Stargobbler dominates Dunharrow, gives up just 2 hits ISENGARD - Great days are rare. But not for Isengard's right-hander Vriurk Stargobbler. Dunharrow found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 9th time he has done it in his career. Stargobbler (13-8) struck out 5 and walked 2, throwing 63 of 112 pitches for strikes. 'That was one of the best games of my career. I had my stuff working very well today.' Saturday 9/17/2008: Bree's Arwodur severely injured BREE - When it rains, it pours. Bree's left-hander Ban Arwodur will not pitch for at least 7 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Rivendell where he left the field in the 6th inning. Bree wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Arwodur had suffered a Pulled Bicep Muscle. In 31 starts this year Ban struck out 170 batters in 231.1 innings of work. His ERA is 3.42, his record 14-8. Thursday 9/15/2008: Carrock's Goragol out for the season CARROCK - Carrock's catcher Greogrin Goragol suffered a season ending injury he was bowled over in a collision at home plate. Goragol laid unconscious on the field for several minutes and had to be carried off the field. He will miss the entire season. Carrock wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Goragol had suffered a Broken Wrist. Goragol has hit for a .338 average this season. He has 35 extra base hits along with 182 total bases, resulting in a .560 slugging percentage. |
Monday 9/12/2008: Hilin Goldarm shuts out Bucklebury on 2 hits OLD FOREST - Old Forest's right-hander Hilin Goldarm is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Bucklebury found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Goldarm 2nd shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 2nd shutouts in his career. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches.' Goldarm (7-16) fanned 3 and walked 1, throwing 109 pitches. Petunia Gamgee helped Goldarm at the plate, he got 2 hits in 3 AB, hitting a homerun. Old Forest improved its record to 68-72, scoring 4 runs on 8 hits. |

Wednesday 9/7/2008: Shatai Githrarith punishes Bywater with five hits MORIA - Moria's designated hitter Shatai Githrarith accomplished a difficult feat in a 8-7 win over Bywater, drilling five hits to improve his career batting average to .265! His 2nd hit, off Losur Oathsplitter in the 4th inning, was a solo homerun and cleared the fence in right field. Number 3 in the 9th inning, a shot estimated at 354 feet, cleared the wall in left field. The game was tied, 7-7, after the blast. His 4th hit was a double off Fisil Goldworthy in the 11th inning. He had singles in the 2nd inning and in the 13th . Shatai did drive in 2 while scoring 4 runs on his own. This season has been a good one for him so far, as he has 130 hits in 409 at bats, resulting in a .318 batting average. The final score of the game was 8-7. |

Tuesday 8/23/2008: Grey Havens' Golligast Gandulbo goes deep three times LOTHLORIEN - Hitting homeruns is one of the most difficult things in sports. To hit three of them in one game is almost sensational. Grey Havens' first baseman Golligast Gandulbo accomplished that feat in a 8-4 win over Lothlorien. A 422 foot drive to left-center marked his 1st bomb, a two-run homerun off Phaimina Fadrielindë in the 1st inning. His 2nd shot, off Phaimina Fadrielindë in the 3rd inning, was a solo homerun and cleared the fence in center field. A pitch from Till Grub in the 7th inning left his bat for a two-run homerun, landing 413 feet from home plate in center field. Overall he collected 3 hits in 5 trips to the plate, with three runs scored and driving in 5 runs. The final score of the game was 8-4. |
Monday 8/22/2008: Faromli (MIR) and Foxburr (MIN) win P.O.W. award The Player of the Week award in the Shire Conference goes to Mirkwood's Galaigast Faromli this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Faromli helped his team with an average of .500 and 6 RBI in 24 at bats. Galaigast has gone 140 for 462 (.303) this season, hitting 35 longballs and driving in 93 runs. Sunday 8/21/2008: Ban Arwodur quiets Bywater bats with shutout BYWATER - Bree's southpaw Ban Arwodur is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Bywater found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Arwodur 1st shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 9th shutouts in his career. 'Today I just felt fine. I had a good feeling while warming up.' Arwodur (11-8) fanned 7 and walked none, throwing 89 pitches. Arwildoc Belebrindil provided Bree with the offense Arwodur needed as he finished 1 for 4, blasting a homerun, and collecting 2 RBI. The final score of the game was 3-0. |
Friday 8/19/2008: Ufrat Deathskull turns in great performance against Weathertop WEATHERTOP - Ufrat Deathskull, usually uneffective, had a great performance against Weathertop on Friday, pitching a 1-hitter for his 1st shutout of the season. Gorchamiel Darkelf spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he singled with no outs in the 5th inning. 'I'll have to give a lot of credit to my catcher. He put all the right fingers down today.' Deathskull (7-2) fanned 5 and walked 2, throwing 105 pitches. Minas Morgul's leftfielder Isilborn Imrilron went 3 for 5, doubling once, scoring three runs and driving in 2 runs. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Deathskull. Minas Morgul improved its record to 69-51, scoring 9 runs on 12 hits. |
Friday 8/19/2008: Vorzava Tinond stars with cycle against Bucklebury BUCKLEBURY - Bywater's centerfielder Vorzava Tinond accomplished a difficult feat in a game against Bucklebury, hitting for the cycle to improve his career batting average to .238! A single in the 2nd off Gugnar Goblinback accounted for his 1st hit. A RBI triple off Gugnar Goblinback in the 4th inning, accounted for his 2nd hit. That one tied it at 1 runs apiece. A pitch from Gugnar Goblinback in the 6th inning left his bat for a double. In the 8th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Rohtog Sandstomper. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Vorzava scored 2 runs, and he collected 3 RBI as well! His 4 hit performance increases his batting average to .221. He becomes the 18th player in league history collect at least a single, double, triple and a homerun in a single game. Ugbag Blacktooth was the last player to hit for the cycle, doing it 8/5/2008. |
Monday 8/15/2008: Lake Town's *Debuugger wins Player of the Week award The Player of the Week award in the Shire Conference goes to Lake Town's Silas *Debuugger this time, as the shortstop displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. He had an on base percentage of .522 and hit .500, while driving in 13 runs. While compiling an on base percentage of .361, Silas hit .271 and slugged .499. He has collected 79 runs batted in this year. Minas Morgul's centerfielder Lumtina Elväwen had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Mordor Conference Player of the Week. Lumtina was on fire, hitting .577 with 3 HR and 8 RBI. His season features a batting average of .303 (132 hits in 435 AB), 26 doubles, 2 triples and 16 homeruns. Elväwen collected 72 RBI and 80 runs as well. |

The 26-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against Dagorlad on Friday. 'Winning is the most important thing. And I gave my team all the support it needed!' Kendrick (7-10) fanned 2 and walked 2, throwing 110 pitches. The hitting star for Weathertop was third baseman Grotluk the Ugly, he went 4 for 5, hitting THREE doubles, scoring twice. Weathertop improved its record to 52-62, scoring 7 runs on 11 hits. |
Friday 8/12/2008: Minas Morgul's Lumtina Elväwen pounds six hits GREY HAVENS - 'Wow, six hits in one game is something special, isn't it?' said Minas Morgul's centerfielder Lumtina Elväwen after the 7-6 win over Grey Havens. A 370 foot drive to left field marked his 1st hit, a solo homerun off Luudrak Footcrawler in the 1st inning. A pitch from Luudrak Footcrawler in the 5th inning left his bat for a solo homerun, landing 370 feet from home plate in left field. A pitch from Phanth Fiwyn in the 8th inning left his bat for a double. He collected singles in the 2nd inning (one RBI) , in the 7th inning and in the 11th inning . Lumtina scored 4 runs, and he collected 3 RBI as well! He is hitting .304 this season, with 16 HR and 72 RBI. |
Tuesday 8/9/2008: Ugku the Tough out for 5 weeks DOL GULDUR - Dol Guldur is without its right-hander Ugku the Tough for at least 5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Flordor Eärämbor in a game against Isengard. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being taken to a local hospital, the Tough was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Herniated Disc Back. The Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Bordul the One-Eyed, Dol Guldur's starting second baseman. Sunday 8/7/2008: Boreathor Boraulf pitches 2-hit shutout against Moria RIVENDELL - Rivendell's southpaw Boreathor Boraulf is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Moria on just 2 hits. It's his 2nd shutout this season, and the 23rd time he has done it in his career. Boraulf (14-7) fanned 6 and walked 4, throwing 113 pitches. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can. And my best stuff was too much for them today.' Rivendell's leftfielder Praggek Halflinglover got 2 hits in 3 AB, blasting a homerun, with 2 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Boraulf. Rivendell improved its record to 52-57, scoring 3 runs on 6 hits. |
Saturday 8/6/2008: Misty Mountain's Arwaumer out for 6 weeks MISTY MOUNTAIN - Misty Mountain is without its right-hander Arwailbo Arwaumer for at least 6 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Mugor Ghoulslobberer in a game against Minas Morgul. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Strained Rotator Cuff Muscle which will require surgery. In 0 starts this year Arwailbo struck out 24 batters in 52.1 innings of work. His ERA is 4.13, his record 2-3. |
Saturday 8/6/2008: Moria's Throatshaker out for 5 weeks MORIA - When it rains, it pours. Moria's right-hander Vruugak Throatshaker will not pitch for at least 5 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Rivendell where he left the field in the 4th inning. Moria wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Throatshaker had suffered a Strained Tricep Muscle. Vruugak has a record of 0-7 this season, with an ERA of 2.58. In 45.1 Innings he was able to strike out 62 batters. |
Friday 8/5/2008: Ugbag Blacktooth stars with cycle against Minas Tirith OLD FOREST - Old Forest's catcher Ugbag Blacktooth once again displayed his tremendous ability to make contact with that little white ball. He tore up Minas Tirith's pitching staff with a 4 hit performance on Friday. A pitch from Gosin Forgemaster in the 4th inning left his bat for a solo homerun, landing 391 feet from home plate in left-center. A pitch from Gosin Forgemaster in the 5th inning left his bat for a triple. A single in the 7th off Dejahtok Anyn accounted for his 3rd hit. A pitch from James Saad in the 8th inning left his bat for a double. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Ugbag scored 3 runs, and he collected 2 RBI as well! His 4 hit performance increases his batting average to .268. 17 players in league history have so far hit for the cycle, including Ugbag. Nuukor Gnomekicker was the last player to hit for the cycle, doing it 4/23/2008. |
Tuesday 8/2/2008: Vrsol Swordbasher (BRE) will miss 5 weeks BREE - When it rains, it pours. Bree's right-hander Vrsol Swordbasher will not pitch for at least 5 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Carrock where he left the field in the 2nd inning. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Inflamed Rotator Cuff Muscle. Vrsol has a record of 5-6 this season, with an ERA of 5.22. In 91.1 Innings he was able to strike out 74 batters. |
Monday 8/1/2008: Weathertop's Nosethrottler named Pitcher of the Month The best month of July in the Shire Conference certainly had Wilderland's right-hander Nesil Ringarm, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. He started 6 games in July, going 4-1 and compiling an ERA of 2.82 in 38.1 innings. Nesil fanned 25 hitters. His ERA of 4.33 helped him to a 6-7 record this year. He struck out 86 and walked 43 in 114.1 innings. Tonai Nosethrottler couldn't have pitched much better than he did in July, and the Mordor Conference thought so as well, naming the right-hander Pitcher of the Month. He started 4 games in July, going 2-1 and compiling an ERA of 1.09 in 24.2 innings. Tonai fanned 22 hitters. In 21 starts this year Tonai struck out 109 batters in 127.2 innings of work. His ERA is 3.31, his record 8-5. Tonai has pitched one shutout and one complete game. |
Monday 8/1/2008: Numenor's Gwildur named Batter of the Month Mirkwood's first baseman Galaigast Faromli had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Shire Conference Batter of the Month. He hit .419 with 25 RBI and slugged .930 in 86 at bats. While compiling an on base percentage of .355, Galaigast hit .301 and slugged .571. He has collected 82 runs batted in this year. He's 3rd in the Shire Conference in RBIs and 1st in homeruns! Numenor's first baseman Imredoc Gwildur had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Mordor Conference Batter of the Month. He hit .371 with 20 RBI and slugged .787 in 89 at bats. Imredoc is hitting .321 this year, with 125 hits in 390 at bats. He has driven in 79 runs, slugging .638. He's 5th in the Mordor Conference in batting, 3rd in homeruns and 7th in RBI! |

Faromli helped his team with an average of .640 and 10 RBI in 25 at bats. Faromli has walked 31 times this year and posts a .355 OBP. While batting .301, 119 for 396, he has driven in 82 runs. He's 3rd in the Shire Conference in RBIs and 1st in homeruns! Minas Morgul's centerfielder Lumtina Elväwen had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Mordor Conference Player of the Week. He had an on base percentage of .467 and hit .448, while driving in 11 runs. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 7 games. His season numbers are: .283 AVG, 108 hits, 23 doubles, 2 triples and 12 taters, along with 61 RBI and 64 runs scored. |
Saturday 7/30/2008: Carrock's the Devastator out for 5-6 weeks CARROCK - Carrock's Shaglakh the Devastator suffered a serious injury Saturday in a game against Moria. the Devastator fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help. He will miss probably 5-6 weeks. the Devastator was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Inflamed Hamstring Muscle. the Devastator has hit for a .233 average this season. He has 18 extra base hits along with 97 total bases, resulting in a .314 slugging percentage. |
Wednesday 7/27/2008: Lifur Ironworker out for 6-7 weeks DUNHARROW - When it rains, it pours. Dunharrow's right-hander Lifur Ironworker will not pitch for at least 6-7 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Dagorlad where he left the field in the 9th inning. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Bone Chips Shoulder. Surgery will be performed next week. His ERA of 4.78 helped him to a 2-4 record this year. He struck out 44 and walked 22 in 37.2 innings. |
Monday 7/25/2008: Player of the Week honors go to Fadrier and Eliondel It's the 1st time that the Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Lake Town's pitcher Gandogast Fadrier. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 1.06 while going 2-0. He hurled a shutout as well. Isszava Eliondel wins his 3rd Player of the Week award. Mordor Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Isszava went 12 for 26 (.462), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 11 RBI. |
Tuesday 7/19/2008: Razrhot the Smasher knocks lights out with three homeruns WEATHERTOP - Razrhot the Smasher beat Weathertop, but he did it without mercy, playing like a one man wrecking crew. Dunharrow's first baseman slugged three homeruns, once again proving that he is among the elite sluggers. A 408 foot drive to right-center marked his 1st bomb, a solo homerun off Robert *Plant in the 1st inning. His 2nd blast, a two-run homerun off Robert *Plant in the 3rd inning, landed an estimated 393 feet from home plate. In the 7th inning he unloaded a three-run homerun off Bukak Axeslobberer. Overall he finished 3 for 5, with three runs scored with 6 RBI. His homerun total this year is 24, along with 58 RBI. Galaigast Faromli was the last player to hit 3 homeruns in a game, doing it 7/15/2008. The final score of the game was 8-1. |
Monday 7/18/2008: Grailas (LT) and Bloodaxe (MM) win P.O.W. award It's the 2nd time that the Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Lake Town's pitcher Gwomer Grailas. Gwomer went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00, while fanning 19 in 17.1 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well. Bagwurz Bloodaxe wins his 3rd Player of the Week award. Mordor Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Bagwurz went 12 for 24 (.500), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 6 RBI. His 2nd shot, off Dejatok Belebrildur in the 3rd inning, was a two-run homerun and cleared the fence in right-center. A pitch from Dawndarlene Babbleon in the 9th inning left his bat for a solo homerun, landing 405 feet from home plate in left-center. Overall he finished with 4 hits in 5 AB, doubling once, scoring FOUR runs and driving in 4 runs. Raymond Miller was the last player to hit 3 homeruns in a game, doing it 6/28/2008. The Player of the Week award in the Mordor Conference goes to Numenor's Boli Armormaker this time, as the catcher displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Sunday 7/10/2008: Legan Isauhir fires 2-hitter against Dol Guldur DEAD MARSHES - Dead Marshes' right-hander Legan Isauhir is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Dol Guldur found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Isauhir 1st shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 3rd shutouts in his career. Isauhir (6-7) struck out 8 and walked 2, throwing 63 of 106 pitches for strikes. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' Mauhur *the Looter provided Dead Marshes with the offense Isauhir needed as he finished 2 for 4, hitting 2 doubles. Dead Marshes improved its record to 44-41, scoring 2 runs on 5 hits. |
Sunday 7/10/2008: Rugnar Silverarm turns in great performance against Lake Town MINAS TIRITH - Good things can happen when you throw strikes. And Rugnar Silverarm did so today, in a 1-hit shutout against Lake Town. 'I didn't feel that I had good stuff while warming up. But it got better the more I threw the ball. I guess I was lucky.' Silverarm (6-8) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking 3, throwing 107 pitches. Grimli Goramir provided Minas Tirith with the offense Silverarm needed as he finished 1 for 3, hitting a homerun, and collecting 3 RBI. The final score of the game was 6-0. |

The Mordor Conference's best player of the week was Numenor's Theo *Nering, who wins the award for the 5th time in his career. He hit .313 with 9 RBI and slugged .625 in 16 at bats. *Nering has hit for a .249 average this season. He has 34 extra base hits along with 135 total bases, resulting in a .487 slugging percentage. |
Friday 7/1/2008: Bonedragger (GDL) and Hammershaker (NUM) win monthly pitcher award Dogush Bonedragger couldn't have pitched much better than he did in June, and the Shire Conference thought so as well, naming the right-hander Pitcher of the Month. His record of 4-0 in 5 was among the leagues best this month. In 32 innings of work he allowed just 19 hits while striking out 28, compiling an ERA of just 1.41. Opposing players hit .219 against Dogush this season. While posting an ERA of 2.84 he went 7-4 in 16 starts, fanning 73 and walking 30 hitters. Numenor's pitcher Prilak Hammershaker is the Mordor Conference winner of the Pitcher of the Month award in June. He had an ERA of just 1.82 in 49.1 innings of work in which he struck out 39 hitters. His record in June is 4-0. Prilak also fired a shutout. His ERA of 2.16 helped him to a 13-2 record this year. He struck out 115 and walked 23 in 141.2 innings. He has 3 complete games and 2 shutouts. He's 1st in the Mordor Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! |

Sunday 6/26/2008: Wonai Trollprodder pitches his 1st shutout of the season ISENGARD - Dead Marshes' hitters looked uncomfortable, and Isengard's Wonai Trollprodder didn't help them. Tuesday 6/21/2008: Isengard's Elvóldur out for 8-9 weeks ISENGARD - Isengard's right-hander Myrbis Elvóldur suffered a severe injury on Tuesday and will be out for at least 8-9 weeks. In the 8th of the game against Numenor he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being taken to a local hospital, Elvóldur was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Ruptured Elbow Ligament. This season Elvóldur compiled an ERA of 2.37, going 4-2 in 0 starts. He fanned 48 while giving up 30 hits in 38 innings. |

Saturday 6/18/2008: Hamson Muddyfoot punishes Rohan with five hits LOTHLORIEN - Hamson Muddyfoot led Lothlorien to a 8-2 win over Rohan by squeezing five hits out of his bat. In the 1st inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Libur Irontearer. In the 3rd inning he belted a double off Libur Irontearer. His 5th hit, a solo homerun off Tigzava Táng in the 8th inning, cleared the fence in left field. He collected singles in the 5th and in the 7th inning . Hamson did drive in 3 while scoring 4 runs on his own. This season has been a good one for him so far, as he has 78 hits in 235 at bats, resulting in a .332 batting average. |
Friday 6/17/2008: Gollomer Gauthor (LOT) will miss 7-8 weeks LOTHLORIEN - Lothlorien's second baseman Gollomer Gauthor will miss at least 7-8 weeks after he got hurt seriously while running hard toward second base. He began limping and then fell down, causing a scary moment for his teammates. He had to be carried off the field. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Torn Abdominal Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. While compiling an on base percentage of .340, Gollomer hit .272 and slugged .464. He has collected 33 runs batted in this year. |
Tuesday 6/14/2008: Gondolin's Alrond *DiSantolin has great day with six hits BYWATER - Gondolin's shortstop Alrond *DiSantolin once again displayed his tremendous ability to make contact with that little white ball. He tore up Bywater's pitching staff with a 6 hit performance on Tuesday. His 1st hit was a two-run double off Kilin Hammerback in the 1st inning. Number 3 in the 4th inning, a shot estimated at 395 feet, cleared the wall in left-center. In the 5th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Moisil Orecrusher. He collected singles in the 3rd inning , in the 7th and in the 9th . Alrond scored 4 runs, and he collected 5 RBI as well! His 6 hit performance increases his batting average to .268. Monday 6/13/2008: Tinond and Imrilron win Player of the Week award The Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Vorzava Tinond, Bywater's starting centerfielder. Tinond helped his team with an average of .357 and 12 RBI in 28 at bats. Vorzava managed to drive in at least one run in every game he played this week. He now has homered in 4 consecutive games as well! He has hit 16 homeruns while batting .236 this season. His 58 hits and 17 walks add up to a .283 on-base percentage. He got up slowly and had to leave the game. Theodore *Nazgul will miss at least 7-8 weeks. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Fractured Hand. Surgery will be performed next week. Theodore is hitting .232 this year, with 54 hits in 233 at bats. He has driven in 31 runs, slugging .459. |

Monday 5/30/2008: Elrithor and Eowil-Galad win Player of the Week award Eolf Elrithor from Old Forest wins his 1st Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Shire Conference. Eolf was on fire, hitting .563 with 2 HR and 5 RBI. Dagorlad's leftfielder Gamilas Eowil-Galad had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Mordor Conference Player of the Week. Eowil-Galad helped his team with an average of .429 and 8 RBI in 21 at bats. |
Saturday 5/28/2008: Dagorlad's Gamilas Eowil-Galad slams three taters DAGORLAD - Gamilas Eowil-Galad was in a groove, and the results spoke for themselves. He powered Dagorlad to a 16-3 win over Weathertop by homering three times. In the 2nd inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Isond Imrudur. His 2nd blast, a solo homerun off Jeffrey Marson in the 6th inning, landed an estimated 417 feet from home plate. Number 3 in the 7th inning, a shot estimated at 374 feet, cleared the wall in left field. Gamilas finished with 3 hits in 3 AB, scoring FOUR times with 5 RBI. Thursday 5/26/2008: Boreathor Boraulf dominates Bucklebury, gives up just 2 hits RIVENDELL - Boreathor Boraulf had some fun again. Bucklebury hitters did not. Rivendell's southpaw gave up just 2 hits in his 1st shutout of the season. He now has 22 career shutouts in 197 games started. Boraulf (7-4) fanned 8 and walked 1, throwing 109 pitches. 'Winning is the most important thing. And I gave my team all the support it needed!' The hitting star for Rivendell was shortstop Goreogorn Gollaund, he got 2 hits in 3 AB, blasting a homerun, and driving in 2 runs. Rivendell improved its record to 21-29, scoring 5 runs on 8 hits. |
Monday 5/23/2008: Minas Morgul's Elväwen severely injured MINAS MORGUL - Minas Morgul's Lumtina Elväwen suffered a serious injury Monday in a game against Dagorlad. Elväwen fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help. He will miss probably 5 weeks. Minas Morgul wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Elväwen had suffered a Pulled Calf Muscle. His season features a batting average of .317 (52 hits in 164 AB), 13 doubles, one triple and 4 homeruns. Elväwen collected 27 RBI and 23 runs as well. |
Monday 5/23/2008: *Squishmasher and Elvywyn win Player of the Week award Rivendell's third baseman Loopy *Squishmasher had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Shire Conference Player of the Week. *Squishmasher helped his team with an average of .448 and 7 RBI in 29 at bats. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 10 game hitting streak right now. *Squishmasher has hit 11 homeruns this year while batting .372. He adds 13 doubles, along with 34 runs scored. He's 2nd in the Shire Conference in batting, 6th in homeruns and 5th in RBI! Myrtai Elvywyn wins his 4th Player of the Week award. Mordor Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Myrtai went 14 for 27 (.519), while hitting 6 HR and collecting 19 RBI. Myrtai managed to drive in at least one run in every game he played this week. Elvywyn has walked 16 times this year and posts a .346 OBP. While batting .289, 48 for 166, he has driven in 51 runs. He's 1st in the Mordor Conference in RBIs and 2nd in homeruns! |
Sunday 5/22/2008: Rivendell's Elfplate out for 5-6 weeks RIVENDELL - Rivendell is without its right-hander Mundin Elfplate for at least 5-6 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Meraulbo Isum in a game against Moria. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Strained Tricep Muscle. This season Elfplate compiled an ERA of 4.16, going 6-4 in 12 starts. He fanned 80 while giving up 40 hits in 67 innings. He's 5th in the Shire Conference in wins! |
Saturday 5/21/2008: Seathor Radithor on fire, crushes three LAKE TOWN - Seathor Radithor beat Old Forest, but he did it without mercy, playing like a one man wrecking crew. Lake Town's centerfielder slugged three homeruns, once again proving that he is among the elite sluggers. Number 1 in the 2nd inning, a shot estimated at 413 feet, cleared the wall in right-center. His 2nd blast, a solo homerun off Tathor Legàndil in the 4th inning, landed an estimated 439 feet from home plate. In the 7th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Elegrina Peremral. Seathor collected 3 hits in 6 trips to the plate, with three runs scored and collecting 4 RBI. Myrtai Elvywyn was the last player to hit 3 homeruns in a game, doing it 4/27/2008. The final score of the game was 14-3. |
Friday 5/20/2008: Crystal Hedgeworth collects five hits against Minas Tirith MINAS TIRITH - Crystal Hedgeworth punished Minas Tirith's pitching today, collecting five hits in 5 AB. That definitely helped Gondolin, they won the game 7 to 2. In the 1st inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Libur Irontwister. His 4th hit, off Libur Irontwister in the 7th inning, was a two-run homerun and cleared the fence in center field. He collected singles in the 3rd , in the 5th and in the 9th inning . Crystal scored 2 runs, and he collected 3 RBI as well! He's having a very good season so far, batting .311. |
Wednesday 5/18/2008: 5-hit performance by Dol Guldur's Betsie Bats DOL GULDUR - Betsie Bats led Dol Guldur to a 10-6 win over Rohan by squeezing five hits out of his bat. A pitch from Libur Irontearer in the 1st inning left his bat for a double. In the 3rd inning he belted a RBI double off Libur Irontearer. His 4th hit, a three-run homerun off Daisy Willowbottom in the 7th inning, cleared the fence in right-center. He had singles in the 5th and in the 8th inning . Betsie scored 2 runs, and he collected 4 RBI as well! This season has been a good one for him so far, as he has 35 hits in 105 at bats, resulting in a .333 batting average. |
Monday 5/16/2008: Player of the Week honors go to *Catsquisher and Nadrierion Mohair *Catsquisher from Mirkwood wins his 1st Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Shire Conference. Mohair was on fire, hitting .600 with 1 HR and 4 RBI. His season numbers are: .413 AVG, 59 hits, 8 doubles, one triple and 3 bombs, along with 25 RBI and 24 runs scored. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in batting! The Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Thudor Nadrierion, Rohan's starting second baseman. Thudor went 8 for 18 (.444), while hitting 4 HR and collecting 9 RBI. |
Tuesday 5/10/2008: Dagorlad's the Masher out for 5-6 weeks DAGORLAD - When it rains, it pours. Dagorlad's right-hander Gromwakh the Masher will not pitch for at least 5-6 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Rohan where he left the field in the 5th inning. the Masher was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Ruptured Bicep Tendon. Gromwakh has a record of 2-1 this season, with an ERA of 5.63. In 40 Innings he was able to strike out 25 batters. |
Monday 5/9/2008: Numenor's Legeolbo wins Player of the Week award Bucklebury's centerfielder Scarlett *Mawaan had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Shire Conference Player of the Week. Scarlett went 14 for 29 (.483), while hitting 1 HR and collecting 6 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 8 game hitting streak right now. Numenor's second baseman Meroman Legeolbo had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Mordor Conference Player of the Week. Legeolbo helped his team with an average of .538 and 14 RBI in 26 at bats. |
Friday 5/6/2008: Bofur Stoneteeth on fire, laces five hits WEATHERTOP - 'You know, in batting practice I didn't really feel that comfortable about my stroke today, but baseball is more than hitting. Then, when you're not trying to force a hit, you slug them in droves,' says Bofur Stoneteeth after his 5 hit game, which Dunharrow won 10-8 against Weathertop. His 1st hit, off Dalo Bloodkiller in the 1st inning, was a solo homerun and cleared the fence in left field. A pitch from Dalo Bloodkiller in the 2nd inning left his bat for a double. A pitch from Dalo Bloodkiller in the 7th inning left his bat for a double. In the 9th inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Ronald Morgan. In the 11th inning he unloaded a triple off Tagnash Nosehammer. Bofur scored 3 runs, and he collected 2 RBI as well! He now has a total of 34 hits this season, accounting for a .270 batting average. |
Friday 5/6/2008: Huge blow for Gondolin's Gaulf, career over GONDOLIN - Gondolin's Gollim Gaulf suffered a serious injury Friday in a game against Bree. Gaulf fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help. He will miss probably entire career. Gondolin wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Gaulf had suffered a Broken Foot. Gollim is hitting .269 this year, with 29 hits in 108 at bats. He has driven in 19 runs, slugging .528. |
Monday 5/2/2008: Peatfingers (BUC) and Eowöldor (ISE) win P.O.W. award The Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Samwise Peatfingers, Bucklebury's starting first baseman. Samwise pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .455 with 3 HR and 11 RBI while slugging .909. The Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Gandaudur Eowöldor, Isengard's starting leftfielder. Gandaudur went 8 for 18 (.444), while hitting 4 HR and collecting 7 RBI. |
Sunday 5/1/2008: Pitcher of the Month award winners announced The best month of April in the Shire Conference certainly had Gondolin's left-hander Rocco Dwarftosser, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. He struck out 31 hitters in his 5 starts, putting together a record of 4-1 while pitching 31 innings. His ERA in April was 1.51. Libur Irontearer pitched like a legend in April, and the Mordor Conference named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He went 5-1 in April and finished the month with an ERA of 1.52. He struck out 40 in 47.1 innings. |
Sunday 5/1/2008: Minas Tirith's Anvilworker earns Batter of the Month award Binus Anvilworker of Minas Tirith wins his 1st Batter of the Month award for putting up the best numbers in the Shire Conference. Binus was on fire, hitting .361 with 11 homeruns and 43 RBI. Misty Mountain's leftfielder Isilborn Imrilron had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Mordor Conference Batter of the Month. Wednesday 4/27/2008: Myrtai Elvywyn knocks lights out with three homeruns MINAS MORGUL - Myrtai Elvywyn can hit'em a long way, and Dead Marshes pitchers couldn't smile about that today. Minas Morgul's first baseman unloaded three bombs, adding to his reputation of being one of the best power hitters in the game. A pitch from Legan Isauhir in the 1st inning left his bat for a two-run homerun, landing 425 feet from home plate in left field. A 337 foot drive to right field marked his 2nd bomb, a solo homerun off Legan Isauhir in the 4th inning. The game was tied, 3-3, after the blast. His 3rd blast, a three-run homerun off Ligor Fistslammer in the 11th inning, landed an estimated 445 feet from home plate. His final blast of the game capped his performance as it won the game, setting the crowd on fire! Myrtai finished 3 for 5, scoring three times with 6 RBI. His homerun total this year is 9, along with 26 RBI. On 4/5/2008, Begrin *Starsley was the last player to hit 3 dingers in a single game. Minas Morgul improved its record to 13-12, scoring 7 runs on 4 hits. |
Monday 4/25/2008: *Squishmasher and Gwildur win Player of the Week award Rivendell's third baseman Loopy *Squishmasher had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Shire Conference Player of the Week. Loopy went 13 for 26 (.500), while hitting 4 HR and collecting 7 RBI. This year *Squishmasher drove in 20 and scored 18 runs while batting .370 with 5 homeruns. He's 5th in the Shire Conference in batting and 7th in RBI! The Player of the Week award in the Mordor Conference goes to Numenor's Imredoc Gwildur this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. He hit .375 with 13 RBI and slugged 1.208 in 24 at bats. He has hit 8 taters while batting .354 this season. His 29 hits and 8 walks add up to a .413 on-base percentage. |
Saturday 4/23/2008: Nuukor Gnomekicker stars with cycle against Carrock CARROCK - Lake Town's rightfielder Nuukor Gnomekicker once again displayed his tremendous ability to make contact with that little white ball. He tore up Carrock's pitching staff with a 5 hit performance on Saturday. A single in the 1st off Nilcair Nilcarion accounted for his 1st hit. Hit number 2 followed in the 3rd inning, a RBI triple. Number 3 in the 5th inning accounted for a double. A single in the 7th off Feli Beardworker accounted for his 4th hit. His 5th hit, a two-run homerun off Feli Beardworker in the 8th inning, cleared the fence in center field. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Nuukor did drive in 4 while scoring one run on his own. He's having a very good season so far, batting .377. He's now the 16th player in league history to hit for the cycle! Hoisil Goldfist was the last player to hit for the cycle, doing it 7/31/2007. |
Monday 4/18/2008: Belebrindil (BRE) and Rockmover (DAG) win P.O.W. award The Shire Conference's best player of the week was Bree's Arwildoc Belebrindil, who wins the award for the 4th time in his career. Belebrindil helped his team with an average of .400 and 16 RBI in 30 at bats. Belebrindil has hit for a .290 average this season. He has 10 extra base hits along with 40 total bases, resulting in a .645 slugging percentage. Remli Rockmover wins his 1st Player of the Week award.
