Thursday 11/1/2012: Chubb (OF) and Amblestar (MM) win Gandalf Pitcher Award The Shire Conference Gandalf Pitcher Award winner was announced today, with Old Forest's southpaw Frodo Chubb taking home the desired trophy. He certainly earned it, he struck fear into hitters all year long. This season Chubb compiled an ERA of 2.22, going 22-3 in 37 starts. He fanned 301 while giving up 242 hits in 287.1 innings. Frodo has pitched 4 shutouts and 7 complete games. He's 2nd in the Shire Conference in ERA and 2nd in wins! Chubb wins the award for the 2nd time in his 8-year career. Sorrel Amblestar was named the Mordor Conference Gandalf Pitcher Award winner today. Misty Mountain's right-hander put up fabulous numbers this year which earned him the highest award a pitcher can receive. This season Amblestar compiled an ERA of 2.52, going 22-10 in 40 starts. Thursday 11/1/2012: *Squishmasher and the Nasty win Sam Gamgee Batter A season for the ages earned Rivendell's third baseman Loopy *Squishmasher the Shire Conference Sam Gamgee Batter this year. *Squishmasher has hit 20 longballs this year while batting .337. He adds 38 doubles, along with 85 runs scored. He's 3rd in the Shire Conference in batting! *Squishmasher wins the award for the 4th time in his 9-year career. The 2012 Mordor Conference Sam Gamgee Batter winner has been announced as well. It's Minas Morgul's first baseman Firbal the Nasty who really had a great offensive year. His season features a batting average of .302 (178 hits in 590 AB), 27 doubles, 8 triples and 40 longballs. the Nasty collected 122 RBI and 106 runs as well. He's 2nd in the Mordor Conference in RBIs and 4th in homeruns! |
Thursday 11/1/2012: Frodo Rookie Award winners announced Minas Tirith's centerfielder Phaiar Gàndir has worked hard to reach the big leagues. His work paid off today as the Shire Conference named him the Frodo Rookie Award winner! While compiling an on base percentage of .326, Phaiar hit .270 and slugged .464. He has collected 89 runs batted in this year. Dagorlad's first baseman Clarence Pender has worked hard to reach the big leagues. His work paid off today as the Mordor Conference named him the Frodo Rookie Award winner! Pender has walked 30 times this year and posts a .352 OBP. While batting .320, 207 for 647, he has driven in 79 runs. He's 3rd in the Mordor Conference in batting! |
Monday 10/1/2012: Pitcher of the Month award winners announced Sjors Cheeseslicer couldn't have pitched much better than he did in September, and the Shire Conference thought so as well, naming the right-hander Pitcher of the Month. His record of 5-0 in 6 was among the leagues best this month. In 45.2 innings of work he allowed just 43 hits while striking out 35, compiling an ERA of just 1.97. Sjors pitched a shutout as well. This season Cheeseslicer compiled an ERA of 3.04, going 20-12 in 36 starts. He fanned 283 while giving up 243 hits in 281.1 innings. Sjors has pitched 2 shutouts and 8 complete games. He's 7th in the Shire Conference in ERA and 3rd in wins! Dol Guldur's Vincent Rogers had a terrific September, and it earned him the Mordor Conference Pitcher of the month award. He struck out 36 hitters in his 6 starts, putting together a record of 4-0 while pitching 36 innings. His ERA in September was 0.81. This season Rogers compiled an ERA of 3.26, going 18-12 in 37 starts. He fanned 167 while giving up 239 hits in 245.2 innings. He has one complete game and one shutout. Monday 10/1/2012: Bucklebury's Peatfingers earns Batter of the Month award It's the 1st time that the Shire Conference Batter of the Month award goes to Bucklebury's leftfielder Samwise Peatfingers. He hit .410 with 24 RBI and slugged .700 in 100 at bats. Peatfingers has hit for a .271 average this season. He has 54 extra base hits along with 298 total bases, resulting in a .495 slugging percentage. He's 10th in the Shire Conference in RBIs and 1st in homeruns! The Mordor Conference's best player of the month was Misty Mountain's Buffy *Balrog Slayer, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. Buffy went 36 for 105 (.343), while hitting 12 HR and collecting 33 RBI. He has hit 54 homeruns while batting .308 this season. His 186 hits and 27 walks add up to a .336 on-base percentage. It's the 4th time that the Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Numenor's first baseman Imredoc Gwildur. Imredoc went 12 for 26 (.462), while hitting 5 HR and collecting 10 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 7 game hitting streak right now. While compiling an on base percentage of .357, Imredoc hit .275 and slugged .514. Friday 9/28/2012: Gragar Drowslobberer dominates Numenor, gives up just 2 hits LOTHLORIEN - Gragar Drowslobberer had some fun again. Numenor hitters did not. Lothlorien's left-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 1st shutout of the season. He now has 2 career shutouts in 145 games started. 'That was one of the best games of my career. I had my stuff working very well today.' Drowslobberer (15-8) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 5. Lothlorien's centerfielder Grumpus *the Grumpest got 2 hits in 4 AB, homering twice, scoring 2 runs and collecting 3 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Drowslobberer. Tuesday 9/25/2012: Hagush Eartrembler fires 2-hitter against Dagorlad MINAS MORGUL - Hagush Eartrembler had some fun again. Dagorlad hitters did not. Minas Morgul's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 4 career shutouts in 82 games started. Eartrembler (8-4) was overpowering, fanning 12 while walking none, throwing 105 pitches. 'Winning is the most important thing. And I gave my team all the support it needed!' Minto Foxburr helped Eartrembler at the plate, he went 1 for 2, and driving in 2 runs. Minas Morgul improved its record to 90-67, scoring 5 runs on 9 hits. |
Monday 9/24/2012: Bucklebury's Peatfingers wins Player of the Week award Samwise Peatfingers from Bucklebury wins his 5th Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Shire Conference. Samwise went 13 for 26 (.500), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 9 RBI. Peatfingers has walked 46 times this year and posts a .325 OBP. While batting .272, 157 for 577, he has driven in 93 runs. The Player of the Week award in the Mordor Conference goes to Dead Marshes' Eond Elruborn this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Saturday 9/22/2012: Mirkwood's Brilhirion severely injured MIRKWOOD - Mirkwood is without its ace Hallalonn Brilhirion for at least 5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Loopy *Squishmasher in a game against Rivendell. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Strained Elbow Ligament. Surgery will be performed next week. This season Brilhirion compiled an ERA of 1.94, going 22-7 in 35 starts. He fanned 265 while giving up 203 hits in 277.2 innings. He has 9 complete games and 2 shutouts. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! |
Tuesday 9/18/2012: Dagorlad's Rinlyg out for the season DAGORLAD - Dagorlad's right-hander Vim Rinlyg will not pitch again this year, suffering a serious injury in the game against Misty Mountain on Tuesday. Torn Bicep Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. His ERA of 3.88 helped him to a 8-6 record this year. He struck out 101 and walked 29 in 144 innings. |
Monday 9/17/2012: Player of the Week honors go to Faromli and the Nasty The Shire Conference's best player of the week was Mirkwood's Galaigast Faromli, who wins the award for the 4th time in his career. Galaigast went 12 for 25 (.480), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 11 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 12 game hitting streak right now. Firbal the Nasty wins his 3rd Player of the Week award. Mordor Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He hit .423 with 9 RBI and slugged 1.000 in 26 at bats. Saturday 9/15/2012: Frodo Chubb blanks Bree with a 1-hitter OLD FOREST - Great days are rare. But not for Old Forest's southpaw Frodo Chubb. Bree found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 4th shutout this season, and the 11th time he has done it in his career. Bork Beavercleaver spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he doubled with two outs in the 5th inning. Chubb (21-3) struck out an astounding 13 and walked none, throwing 66 of 103 pitches for strikes. 'I really like to play baseball, and I love the way I was able to play it today.' Gollauman Gandilhil helped Chubb at the plate, he finished 3 for 5, going deep twice, scoring three times and collecting 3 RBI. Old Forest scored 15 runs on 20 hits. |
Wednesday 9/12/2012: Bagwurz Bloodaxe out for 8 weeks MISTY MOUNTAIN - Misty Mountain's catcher Bagwurz Bloodaxe will miss at least 8 weeks after he got hurt seriously in a collision at home plate. He laid on the ground without movement for several minutes and had to be carried off the field. Misty Mountain wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Bloodaxe had suffered a Fractured Skull. Bagwurz is hitting .288 this year, with 102 hits in 354 at bats. He has driven in 36 runs, slugging .427. |
Tuesday 9/11/2012: Kobur Hammermaker out for 4-5 weeks BREE - Lake Town's Derrin Trollworker drilled Bree's shortstop Kobur Hammermaker in the 7th inning. He was slow getting up and had to leave the game. Kobur Hammermaker will miss at least 4-5 weeks. Bree wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Hammermaker had suffered a Broken Hand. While compiling an on base percentage of .350, Kobur hit .248 and slugged .353. In 28 starts this year Torg struck out 162 batters in 204.1 innings of work. His ERA is 3.13, his record 12-11. Torg has pitched 2 shutouts and 6 complete games. Boriagol Boreborn pitched like a legend in August, and the Mordor Conference named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He had an ERA of just 0.63 in 28.2 innings of work in which he struck out 30 hitters. His record in August is 3-1. This season Boreborn compiled an ERA of 4.09, going 6-3 in 10 starts. He fanned 80 while giving up 97 hits in 101.1 innings. |

He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Thudor Nadrierion in a game against Rohan. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Elilmalad was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Strained Rotator Cuff Muscle. This season Elilmalad compiled an ERA of 4.60, going 6-5 in 23 starts. He fanned 101 while giving up 148 hits in 133 innings. Issth has pitched one shutout and one complete game. |
Wednesday 8/8/2012: Yvestil Ala'Niel shuts out Rivendell on one hit OLD FOREST - Old Forest's left-hander Yvestil Ala'Niel is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Rivendell on just one hit. It's his 3rd shutout this season, and the 3rd time he has done it in his career. 'I had my stuff going. Everything I tried worked. What a day!' Ala'Niel (11-3) struck out 8 and issued 1 BB, throwing 61 of 100 pitches for strikes. Monday 8/6/2012: Season ending injury strikes Rohan's *Sackville ROHAN - Rohan's shortstop Posco *Sackville suffered a season ending injury when he was struck by a pitch from Grey Havens' Legolas Manfen. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. After being taken to a local hospital, *Sackville was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Broken Wrist. *Sackville has walked 26 times this year and posts a .382 OBP. While batting .340, 142 for 418, he has driven in 67 runs. He's 3rd in the Mordor Conference in batting! |
Monday 8/6/2012: Buugush Badgerdicer clubs four rockets BUCKLEBURY - Buugush Badgerdicer was in a groove, and the results spoke for themselves. He powered Bucklebury to a 18-5 win over Mirkwood by homering four times. His 1st shot, a two-run homerun off Fridak Derrohater in the 3rd inning, cleared the fence in left field. Number 2 in the 4th inning, a shot estimated at 450 feet, cleared the wall in center field. In the 6th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Tigtai Tämir. His 4th blast, a two-run homerun off Arwailbo Arwaumer in the 8th inning, landed an estimated 362 feet from home plate. Buugush went 4 for 6, scoring FOUR times and driving in 7 runs. His homerun total this year is 29, along with 81 RBI. |

Scarlett went 2-0 with an ERA of 2.45, while fanning 11 in 14.2 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well. This season *II compiled an ERA of 3.09, going 15-8 in 27 starts. He fanned 175 while giving up 163 hits in 186.2 innings. He has 3 complete games and 3 shutouts. He's 10th in the Shire Conference in ERA and 3rd in wins! Braingobber fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help. He will miss probably 4-5 weeks. Bree wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Braingobber had suffered a Strained Anterior Cruciate Ligament. He has hit 6 longballs while batting .295 this season. He had an ERA of just 0.95 in 56.2 innings of work in which he struck out 47 hitters. His record in July is 4-0. His ERA of 1.19 helped him to a 16-3 record this year. He struck out 170 and walked 28 in 189.2 innings. Hallalonn has pitched 2 shutouts and 8 complete games. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! Bugrin Spinner pitched like a legend in July, and the Mordor Conference named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He went 3-2 in July and finished the month with an ERA of 1.18. He struck out 46 in 45.2 innings. Bugrin also fired a shutout. Opposing players hit .225 against Bugrin this season. While posting an ERA of 3.99 he went 9-11 in 24 starts, fanning 163 and walking 62 hitters. Bugrin has pitched one shutout and 2 complete games. |

Monday 7/30/2012: Season ending injury strikes Lake Town's Fadrier LAKE TOWN - Lake Town's ace Gandogast Fadrier experienced probably the worst case scenario for a pitcher, a season ending injury. After pitching in the 3rd inning of the game against Old Forest, Fadrier complained about serious pain in his throwing arm. He had to leave the game. Lake Town wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Fadrier had suffered a Torn Tricep Muscle. Gandogast has a record of 8-7 this season, with an ERA of 3.71. In 145.2 Innings he was able to strike out 166 batters. He has 2 complete games and one shutout. |
Monday 7/30/2012: Minas Tirith's Strongbow wins Player of the Week award The Player of the Week award in the Shire Conference goes to Minas Tirith's Sugnus Strongbow this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Sugnus went 17 for 27 (.630), while hitting 1 HR and collecting 12 RBI. Sugnus is hitting .377 this year, with 29 hits in 77 at bats. He has driven in 20 runs, slugging .623. Shamina Gil-Gawen wins his 2nd Player of the Week award. Mordor Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Thursday 7/26/2012: Hudash Elfprodder on fire, laces five hits DUNHARROW - Hudash Elfprodder punished Dunharrow's pitching today, collecting five hits in 7 AB. That definitely helped Old Forest, they won the game 15 to 12. Number 1 in the 2nd inning, a shot estimated at 437 feet, cleared the wall in center field. Number 2 in the 4th inning accounted for a double. A 412 foot drive to right field marked his 3rd hit, a solo homerun off Gandilgol Eowül in the 8th inning. He collected singles in the 11th and in the 12th inning (two RBIs). Hudash did drive in 5 while scoring 3 runs on his own. His 5 hit performance increases his batting average to .232. |

Grey Havens found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Ala'Niel 2nd shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 2nd shutouts in his career. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can. And my best stuff was too much for them today.' Ala'Niel (10-3) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking none, throwing 97 pitches. Monday 7/23/2012: Bywater has no chance in a 2-hitter by Celomli Denaidur BYWATER - Great days are rare. But not for Misty Mountain's right-hander Celomli Denaidur. Bywater found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 7th time he has done it in his career. Denaidur (12-6) was overpowering, fanning 12 while walking none, throwing 99 pitches. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches.' Chukky Cheesegrater provided Misty Mountain with the offense Denaidur needed as he got 3 hits in 4 AB, scoring twice and collecting 3 RBI. Misty Mountain improved its record to 55-43, scoring 8 runs on 11 hits. |
Monday 7/23/2012: Spinner (BYW) and Chubb (MIN) win P.O.W. award It's the 1st time that the Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Bywater's pitcher Bugrin Spinner. Bugrin went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00, while fanning 16 in 15 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well. His ERA of 4.35 helped him to a 8-11 record this year. He struck out 146 and walked 59 in 136.2 innings. Bugrin has pitched one shutout and 2 complete games. Tanta Chubb wins his 6th Player of the Week award. Mordor Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. In 18 at bats he hit .500 with 3 HR and 10 RBI. Tanta has gone 98 for 334 (.293) this season, hitting 23 homeruns and driving in 67 runs. He has scored 67 runs on his own. He's 8th in the Mordor Conference in RBIs and 6th in homeruns! |
Thursday 7/19/2012: Issth Elilmalad blanks Bucklebury with a 2-hitter BUCKLEBURY - Weathertop's left-hander Issth Elilmalad will never forget this day. The 30-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against Bucklebury on Thursday. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' Elilmalad (5-5) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 4. Roran Shieldmover helped Elilmalad at the plate, he stroked 1 hit in 3 AB, hitting a homerun, with 2 RBI. Weathertop improved its record to 44-50, scoring 3 runs on 10 hits. |
Monday 7/16/2012: Rivendell's Elfplate out for 7 weeks RIVENDELL - Rivendell is without its ace Mundin Elfplate for at least 7 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Prol Handwalker in a game against Numenor. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Elfplate was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Fractured Elbow. Mundin has a record of 5-4 this season, with an ERA of 2.81. In 93 Innings he was able to strike out 134 batters. |
Monday 7/16/2012: Lake Town's Elvadrielad wins Player of the Week award The Shire Conference's best player of the week was Lake Town's Lumja Elvadrielad, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. Lumja was on fire, hitting .524 with 4 HR and 7 RBI. Dagorlad's rightfielder Isembard Ploughman had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Mordor Conference Player of the Week. In 25 at bats he hit .520 with 5 HR and 12 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 9 game hitting streak right now. |
Sunday 7/15/2012: Old Forest's Megilwen severely injured, out for season OLD FOREST - Old Forest's right-hander Eralqua Megilwen experienced probably the worst case scenario for a pitcher, a season ending injury. After pitching in the 5th inning of the game against Dol Guldur, Megilwen complained about serious pain in his throwing arm. He had to leave the game. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Torn Bicep Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. Opposing players hit .230 against Eralqua this season. While posting an ERA of 3.62 he went 7-3 in 12 starts, fanning 70 and walking 12 hitters. |
Friday 7/13/2012: 5-hit performance by Moria's Morag *the Shriek MORIA - Morag *the Shriek is among the best pure hitters in the game, but his 5 hit performance seemed to surprise even himself. In the 1st inning he belted a double off Issth Elilmalad. Number 2 in the 5th inning, a shot estimated at 363 feet, cleared the wall in left field. It tied the ballgame at 5. A 381 foot drive to left field marked his 5th hit, a solo homerun off Ronald Husband in the 10th inning. That one even won the game for his team! He had singles in the 6th inning (one RBI) and in the 8th inning . Morag scored 3 runs, and he collected 5 RBI as well! He is hitting .264 this season, with 9 HR and 28 RBI. Moria scored 10 runs on 15 hits. |
Tuesday 7/10/2012: Moria's Tookes out for the season MORIA - Moria's right-hander Robert Tookes experienced probably the worst case scenario for a pitcher, a season ending injury. After pitching in the 1st inning of the game against Lothlorien, Tookes complained about serious pain in his throwing arm. He had to leave the game. Torn Bicep Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. This season Tookes compiled an ERA of 5.27, going 1-8 in 17 starts. He fanned 89 while giving up 83 hits in 83.2 innings. |
Monday 7/9/2012: Dagorlad's Ploughman wins Player of the Week award It's the 7th time that the Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Lake Town's shortstop Silas *Debuugger. Silas went 10 for 16 (.625), while hitting 1 HR and collecting 9 RBI. While compiling an on base percentage of .345, Silas hit .270 and slugged .510. He has collected 50 runs batted in this year. Isembard Ploughman from Dagorlad wins his 3rd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Mordor Conference. Isembard went 7 for 16 (.438), while hitting 4 HR and collecting 7 RBI. Isembard has gone 97 for 306 (.317) this season, hitting 26 taters and driving in 71 runs. He has scored 55 runs on his own. Sunday 7/8/2012: Mirkwood's Goriborn severely injured MIRKWOOD - Mirkwood's pitcher Gwelf Goriborn was part of a scary incident that saw the right-hander being hit by a line drive in the 3rd inning of the game between Mirkwood and Weathertop. Team trainers immediately rushed onto the field after the frightening scene. Goriborn will miss about 5 weeks. After being taken to a local hospital, Goriborn was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Broken Hand. In 17 starts this year Gwelf struck out 99 batters in 122.1 innings of work. His ERA is 3.83, his record 9-4. He's 6th in the Shire Conference in wins! |
Monday 7/2/2012: Dogush Bonedragger out for 5 weeks RIVENDELL - When it rains, it pours. Rivendell's right-hander Dogush Bonedragger will not pitch for at least 5 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Bywater where he left the field in the 4th inning. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Strained Rotator Cuff Muscle which will require surgery. This season Bonedragger compiled an ERA of 6.02, going 4-9 in 15 starts. He fanned 73 while giving up 96 hits in 80.2 innings. |
Monday 7/2/2012: Minas Tirith's Binus Anvilworker ropes six hits MINAS TIRITH - On Monday, Minas Tirith's first baseman Binus Anvilworker displayed his sensational ability to handle the bat against Bree, punishing their pitchers with six hits. In the 3rd inning he belted a double off Halleron Troublemaker. A 398 foot drive to right field marked his 2nd hit, a two-run homerun off Halleron Troublemaker in the 5th inning. His 3rd hit, a solo homerun off Rebo Roadapple in the 7th inning, landed an estimated 378 feet from home plate. His 5th hit was a double off Gollaiborn Fionduil in the 11th inning. He had singles in the 9th and in the 12th (one RBI). Binus scored 3 runs, and he collected 4 RBI as well! His 6 hit performance increases his batting average to .268. The final score of the game was 10-9. |

The Player of the Week award in the Mordor Conference goes to Grey Havens' Isszava Eliondel this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Isszava pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .440 with 3 HR and 6 RBI while slugging .800. He has hit 21 bombs while batting .319 this season. His 95 hits and 31 walks add up to a .393 on-base percentage. He's 10th in the Mordor Conference in batting, 3rd in homeruns and 9th in RBI! |
Sunday 7/1/2012: Parin Saphirecryer shuts out Dead Marshes on one hit DEAD MARSHES - Good things can happen when you throw strikes. And Parin Saphirecryer did so today, in a 1-hit shutout against Dead Marshes. Saphirecryer (8-2) struck out 7 and walked 2, throwing 63 of 105 pitches for strikes. 'I was hitting my spots. Now I'll start concentrating on my next start, and hopefully it will work again.' Dagorlad's shortstop Marus *Alu finished with 3 hits in 6 AB, stroking two 2B's, scoring three times with 2 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Saphirecryer. Dagorlad scored 10 runs on 13 hits. |
Sunday 7/1/2012: Goriborn and Grailas receive Pitcher of the Month award Gwelf Goriborn pitched like a legend in June, and the Shire Conference named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He started 5 games in June, going 5-0 and compiling an ERA of 0.90 in 40 innings. Gwelf fanned 34 hitters. Gwelf has a record of 9-4 this season, with an ERA of 3.61. In 119.2 Innings he was able to strike out 97 batters. He's 5th in the Shire Conference in wins! The best month of June in the Mordor Conference certainly had Misty Mountain's southpaw Gwomer Grailas, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. He went 4-1 in June and finished the month with an ERA of 2.15. He struck out 44 in 46 innings. Gwomer got two complete game shutouts as well! Sunday 7/1/2012: Batter of the Month award winners announced The Batter of the Month award in the Shire Conference goes to Carrock's Durin Brickfoot this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. He hit .449 with 17 RBI and slugged .562 in 89 at bats. Brickfoot has walked 18 times this year and posts a .372 OBP. While batting .332, 87 for 262, he has driven in 44 runs. He's 5th in the Shire Conference in batting! It's the 3rd time that the Mordor Conference Batter of the Month award goes to Dagorlad's rightfielder Isembard Ploughman. Isembard went 31 for 97 (.320), while hitting 12 HR and collecting 24 RBI. This year Ploughman drove in 64 and scored 48 runs while batting .310 with 22 bombs. Thursday 6/28/2012: Vrsol Swordbasher blanks Bywater with a 1-hitter BYWATER - Vrsol Swordbasher took the mound and never left. And Bywater hitters couldn't touch him at all. Bree's right-hander gave up just one hit in his 1st shutout of the season. He now has 5 career shutouts in 139 games started. Swordbasher (8-1) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking 1, throwing 108 pitches. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can. Minas Morgul's first baseman Firbal the Nasty had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Mordor Conference Player of the Week. He hit .522 with 13 RBI and slugged .957 in 23 at bats. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 7 game hitting streak right now. Friday 6/15/2012: Gwomer Grailas turns in great performance against Dunharrow DUNHARROW - Misty Mountain's lefty Gwomer Grailas is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Grailas (8-7) struck out 9 and walked 1, throwing 66 of 107 pitches for strikes. 'I was able to keep´em off balance. That certainly helped.' Misty Mountain's second baseman Tran Clawfoot collected 1 hit in 3 trips to the plate, homering once. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Grailas. Tuesday 6/12/2012: Minas Morgul's Minto Foxburr pounds five hits WEATHERTOP - Minto Foxburr saw the ball really well, leading Minas Morgul to a 10-1 win over Weathertop. His five hits thrilled his teammates and coaches, and Minto seemed happy as well after the game. In the 6th inning he unloaded a RBI triple off Randy Kendrick. His 5th hit, a three-run homerun off Boraimli Bilas in the 8th inning, cleared the fence in right field. He had singles in the 1st , in the 3rd and in the 5th inning . He hit .440 with 7 RBI and slugged .800 in 25 at bats. His season features a batting average of .297 (68 hits in 229 AB), 19 doubles, 6 triples and 5 homeruns. The Player of the Week award in the Mordor Conference goes to Numenor's Prilak Hammershaker this time, as the pitcher displayed the best pitching perfomance in his league. Friday 6/1/2012: Pitcher of the Month award winners announced Minas Ithil's pitcher Floror Eärilmarion is the Shire Conference winner of the Pitcher of the Month award in May. He struck out 22 hitters in his 5 starts, putting together a record of 4-0 while pitching 22 innings. His ERA in May was 0.97. Opposing players hit .230 against Floror this season. While posting an ERA of 3.25 he went 5-3 in 11 starts, fanning 58 and walking 21 hitters. Lothlorien's Garadorn Evermind had a terrific May, and it earned him the Mordor Conference Pitcher of the month award. He started 6 games in May, going 6-0 and compiling an ERA of 2.20 in 45 innings. Garadorn fanned 43 hitters. Garadorn also fired a shutout. His ERA of 3.51 helped him to a 7-2 record this year. He struck out 65 and walked 32 in 74.1 innings. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in batting! The Mordor Conference Batter of the Month award goes to Thudor Nadrierion, Rohan's starting second baseman. Nadrierion helped his team with an average of .350 and 32 RBI in 103 at bats. This year Nadrierion drove in 49 and scored 34 runs while batting .293 with 14 bombs. Monday 5/7/2012: Dead Marshes' Oresplitter out for 4-5 weeks DEAD MARSHES - Dead Marshes is without its left-hander Nasil Oresplitter for at least 4-5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Isszava Eliondel in a game against Grey Havens. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Ruptured Disc Back. His ERA of 2.33 helped him to a 3-2 record this year. He struck out 52 and walked 7 in 58 innings. |
Monday 5/7/2012: Binus Anvilworker blisters three bombs OLD FOREST - Minas Tirith beat Old Forest 9-2, but that was not the real story of the game. Binus Anvilworker was, as he went deep three times. A 382 foot drive to left-center marked his 1st bomb, a two-run homerun off Eralqua Megilwen in the 1st inning. In the 5th inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Eralqua Megilwen. His 3rd shot, a two-run homerun off Gromwakh the Masher in the 6th inning, cleared the fence in left-center. Binus got 4 hits in 5 AB, stroking a double, with three runs scored and collecting 5 RBI. Isszava Eliondel was the last player to hit 3 homeruns in a game, doing it 8/12/2011. |
Monday 5/7/2012: Ala'Niel and Muddyfoot win Player of the Week award The Shire Conference's best player of the week was Old Forest's Yvestil Ala'Niel, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. Ala'Niel was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 1.06. Along the way he struck out 17 in 17 innings. He hurled a shutout as well. Yvestil has a record of 5-1 this season, with an ERA of 1.96. In 55 Innings he was able to strike out 55 batters. He has one complete game and one shutout. He's 3rd in the Shire Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! Hamson Muddyfoot from Lothlorien wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Mordor Conference. Muddyfoot helped his team with an average of .591 and 5 RBI in 22 at bats. Hamson is hitting .325 this year, with 39 hits in 120 at bats. He has driven in 20 runs, slugging .533. |
Sunday 5/6/2012: Numenor's Theriot severely injured NUMENOR - Numenor's right-hander Charles Theriot suffered a severe injury on Sunday and will be out for at least 8-9 weeks. In the 6th of the game against Weathertop he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. Numenor wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Theriot had suffered a Torn Tricep Muscle. In 6 starts this year Charles struck out 16 batters in 30.2 innings of work. His ERA is 7.92, his record 1-4. |
Tuesday 5/1/2012: Megilwen and Cloudskin receive Pitcher of the Month award Eralqua Megilwen couldn't have pitched much better than he did in April, and the Shire Conference thought so as well, naming the right-hander Pitcher of the Month. His ERA of just 0.78 helped him to a 3-0 record in April. He worked 34.2 innings, striking out 23 hitters while walking 3. Lothlorien's Gimli Cloudskin had a terrific April, and it earned him the Mordor Conference Pitcher of the month award. He went 2-1 in April and finished the month with an ERA of 0.58. He struck out 38 in 31 innings. Gimli got two complete game shutouts as well! |
Tuesday 5/1/2012: Batter of the Month award winners announced The Shire Conference's best player of the month was Rivendell's Loopy *Squishmasher, who wins the award for the 5th time in his career. Loopy went 43 for 100 (.430), while hitting 4 HR and collecting 24 RBI. The Batter of the Month award in the Mordor Conference goes to Minas Morgul's Isilborn Imrilron this time, as the rightfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Imrilron helped his team with an average of .376 and 23 RBI in 109 at bats. |
Monday 4/30/2012: Player of the Week honors go to Cheeseslicer and Velom The Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Sjors Cheeseslicer, one of Old Forest's best starting pitchers. Cheeseslicer was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 2.08. Along the way he struck out 20 in 17.1 innings. He hurled a shutout as well. In 6 starts this year Sjors struck out 57 batters in 49.1 innings of work. His ERA is 2.19, his record 4-2. Sjors has pitched one shutout and 2 complete games. He's 5th in the Shire Conference in ERA and 1st in wins! The Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Velomiel Velom, Weathertop's starting second baseman. In 20 at bats he hit .600 with 2 HR and 4 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 7 game hitting streak right now. While compiling an on base percentage of .380, Velomiel hit .309 and slugged .515. He has collected 13 runs batted in this year. |
Thursday 4/26/2012: Sorrel Amblestar fires NO-NO against Grey Havens MISTY MOUNTAIN - Misty Mountain's right-hander Sorrel Amblestar is a really great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff while making history, blanking Grey Havens on no hits. Hoisil Goldfist spoiled the bid for a perfect game when he walked with no outs in the 8th inning. 'Giving my team a chance to win is the most important thing for me. I was able to do it today, and it's especially nice to do it in such fashion.' Amblestar (2-2) fanned 5 and walked 2, throwing 99 pitches. Novathiel Novathien helped Amblestar at the plate, he finished with 1 hit in 4 AB, stroking a double, and collecting 2 RBI. Misty Mountain improved its record to 10-14, scoring 3 runs on 7 hits. |
Monday 4/23/2012: *Squishmasher (RIV) and Mulder (ROH) win P.O.W. award The Shire Conference's best player of the week was Rivendell's Loopy *Squishmasher, who wins the award for the 11th time in his career. Loopy pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .565 with 1 HR and 6 RBI while slugging .826. *Squishmasher has hit for a .432 average this season. He has 10 extra base hits along with 47 total bases, resulting in a .635 slugging percentage. He's 2nd in the Shire Conference in batting and 7th in RBI! Teun Mulder wins his 2nd Player of the Week award. Mordor Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Mulder helped his team with an average of .464 and 12 RBI in 28 at bats. Mulder has walked 5 times this year and posts a .398 OBP. While batting .360, 27 for 75, he has driven in 23 runs. He's 6th in the Mordor Conference in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 1st in RBI! |
Tuesday 4/17/2012: Gimli Cloudskin turns in great performance against Isengard ISENGARD - Gimli Cloudskin took the mound and never left. And Isengard hitters couldn't touch him at all. Lothlorien's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 5 career shutouts in 261 games started. Cloudskin (2-1) struck out an astounding 13 and walked 1, throwing 76 of 118 pitches for strikes. 'Pitching a great game is always a good thing. And it doesn't get much better than today.' The hitting star for Lothlorien was shortstop Fastolph Hornblower, he finished 2 for 4, blasting a homerun, hitting a double. Lothlorien improved its record to 9-7, scoring 4 runs on 10 hits. |
Tuesday 4/17/2012: Lothlorien's Cloudskin out for 7 weeks LOTHLORIEN - Lothlorien is without its ace Gimli Cloudskin for at least 7 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Olorin *Orithil in a game against Isengard. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Cloudskin was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Broken Elbow. This season Cloudskin compiled an ERA of 0.58, going 1-1 in 4 starts. He fanned 38 while giving up 12 hits in 31 innings. Gimli has pitched one shutout and one complete game. |
Monday 4/16/2012: Mirkwood's Calafalas wins Player of the Week award The Shire Conference's best player of the week was Mirkwood's Idril Calafalas, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. Idril went 14 for 23 (.609), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 9 RBI. While compiling an on base percentage of .463, Idril hit .420 and slugged .680. He has collected 11 runs batted in this year. He's 5th in the Shire Conference in batting! The Mordor Conference's best player of the week was Minas Morgul's Tanta Chubb, who wins the award for the 5th time in his career. Chubb helped his team with an average of .455 and 5 RBI in 22 at bats. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 9 game hitting streak right now. His season numbers are: .353 AVG, 18 hits, 5 doubles, no triples and 5 homeruns, along with 16 RBI and 14 runs scored. He's 2nd in the Mordor Conference in RBIs and 3rd in homeruns! |
Thursday 4/12/2012: Istvan the Archer out for 8-9 weeks MISTY MOUNTAIN - Misty Mountain is without its right-hander Istvan the Archer for at least 8-9 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Clarence Pender in a game against Dagorlad. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Broken Elbow. Surgery will be performed next week. |
Thursday 4/12/2012: Scarlett *II quiets Bywater bats with shutout BYWATER - Scarlett *II had his best stuff going, and Bywater hitters had nothing to cheer about. Bucklebury's right-hander pitched a 2-hitter, his 1st shutout of the season. *II (1-1) struck out 5 and walked 4, throwing 70 of 125 pitches for strikes. 'I really like to play baseball, and I love the way I was able to play it today.' Roberto Arostegui provided Bucklebury with the offense *II needed as he finished 3 for 5, scoring twice. Bucklebury improved its record to 6-5, scoring 4 runs on 9 hits. |
Monday 4/9/2012: Bima (CAR) and Goldfist (GH) win P.O.W. award Borauman Bima from Carrock wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Shire Conference. He hit .407 with 16 RBI and slugged .926 in 27 at bats. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 9 games. Bima has hit 4 bombs this year while batting .387. He adds 2 doubles, along with 8 runs scored. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in RBIs and 1st in homeruns! The Player of the Week award in the Mordor Conference goes to Grey Havens' Hoisil Goldfist this time, as the centerfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. After being taken to a local hospital, Rinlyg was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Ruptured Disc Back. |
Monday 4/2/2012: Tran Clawfoot (MM) will miss 5 weeks MISTY MOUNTAIN - Grey Havens' Narnose Filthsludgefad drilled Misty Mountain's second baseman Tran Clawfoot in the 8th inning. He was slow getting up and had to leave the game. Tran Clawfoot will miss at least 5 weeks. Broken Hand was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. |
