Monday, May 9th, 2022: In the twilight of her career, 36-year-old Petunia Gamgee of Dead Marshes recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the Mordor Conference Player of the Week Award.
"I've been playing since I was a kid," Gamgee told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success."
Gamgee outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 9 hits in 17 at-bats, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs to stake her claim to the award.
Currently Gamgee is batting .316 with 31 hits and 9 home runs. She has knocked in 22 runs and scored 21 times. |

Monday, May 9th, 2022: One of the league's most exciting young players, Floria Gilmathien of the Carrock Bears earned herself Shire Conference Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.
For the week the 24-year-old first baseman had a lofty .565 average (13-23), collecting 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
For the year Gilmathien is batting .366 with 11 home runs, 37 RBIs and 21 runs scored. |
| Gamgee Gets Number 2500
Sunday, May 8th, 2022: Petunia Gamgee was bubbling over with joy, celebrating her 2500th hit in the Dead Marshes 15-2 victory over the Royals at Royals Stadium.
"I learned what hard work, focus, dedication, and opportunity can do. This is how it pays off."
The 36-year-old third baseman achieved that milestone with 2 hits in 4 at-bats to join the exclusive 2500-hit club.
Her manager said, "Petunia plays the same every day and every inning -- with all her heart. That's why she's such a special player."
Lifetime Gamgee has played in 2519 games with a .271 batting average. Among her 2500 hits are 477 doubles, 20 triples and 437 home runs. She also has scored 1340 runs and driven in 1453 runs. |
