 | Friday, May 8th, 2015: Hits Galore! Tunnelkiller Drills 5 Hits! Five hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book. In the Ponies 20-0 win over Ithilien, Vinar Tunnelkiller was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Ballpark of Prairie Hill. "To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone." On his record-setting day Tunnelkiller delivered 5 hits in 7 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget. V. Tunnelkiller struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Tunnelkiller has collected 41 hits for the Ponies this year, 2 of them home runs. He has also netted 16 RBIs and scored 29 runs while batting .357. |
