This week's Player of the Week was Matthew Briggs of the Harad Wainriders.
His big bat waylaid Elrond League pitching for 17 hits in 30 at-bats, 2 home runs, and 14 RBIs while hitting .567 and scoring 5 runs.
This year Briggs is hitting at a .350 pace with 4 home runs and 28 RBIs. He has played in 33 games and scored 19 times. |
| Saturday, May 6th, 2017: 5-Hits Blitz by Harad's Briggs!
Matthew Briggs put on a hitting clinic today as the Wainriders dumped the Wizards 11-3 at Wainriders Ballpark. The Harad right fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing White Mountain pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game.
He told SION reporters after the game, that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."
M. Briggs hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a three-run double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
For 2017 Briggs is batting .356 with 4 home runs, 28 RBIs and 18 runs scored. |
 | Friday, April 28th, 2017: the Stutterer Sharp, Whitewashes Wainriders
Rukak the Stutterer had the Harad Wainriders dancing to his tune today with a sparkling 8-0 shutout performance for the Lebennin Lords. He gave up 3 hits and collected 1 walk and 9 strikeouts.
Harad hitters were bewildered throughout the game by his delivery.
The opposing manager said, "When you face a guy who hides the ball like he does, it takes a couple of at-bats to try to find his release point. We just never figured him out."
This season the Stutterer has a 3-2 record with a 4.89 ERA in 7 starts.
