| Breaking News | | Monday, May 1st, 2017: Longshanks Wins Best Bat Trophy in April
The vote is in and Fariaborn Longshanks, the 18-year-old right fielder for Eryn Lasgalen, is the winner. Today he was honored with the Balin League Batter of the Month award.
In April, Longshanks wowed voters with a .341 average while posting up 6 home runs, 28 RBIs, 28 runs scored and a .419 on-base percentage.

| Monday, May 1st, 2017: Longshanks on the Attack, Player of the Week
It was announced today that Eryn Lasgalen right fielder Fariaborn Longshanks was selected the Balin League Player of the Week Award for his superb play last week.
During the week he compiled a .458 batting average (11-24) with 3 home runs, 8 RBI and scored 6 runs.
This year Longshanks has hit 6 home runs and posted a .341 batting average.

| Sunday, April 23rd, 2017: Catcher Curt Ballscarer Hurt
The Mirkwood Marauders will lose the services of catcher Curt Ballscarer after he sustained a bruised wrist while being hit by a pitch in today's game against the Carrock Bears. When asked about the injury, he took a philosophical approach. "Worse things can happen in life," Ballscarer said. "The key now is to stay positive." His trainer said he is expected to be sidelined for the next one week.
In 16 games this season Ballscarer has hit at a .254 clip and produced 8 RBIs, 1 home runs and 10 runs scored.
