| Breaking News | | Monday, July 24th, 2017: Claybrace of Blackroot Crowned Best Player
Nobody in the Durin League had a better week than Gori Claybrace ...Noooo-body! That's why he was voted the Player of the Week.
During the week the Blackroot right fielder compiled a .462 batting average (12-26) with 1 home run, 7 runs batted in and scored 8 runs.
On the season, Claybrace is batting .317 with 7 home runs and 53 RBIs. He has played in 84 games.

| Tuesday, July 18th, 2017: Gilmathien Fashions Shutout Against Anorien
"I hope we miss him next time," the Anorien manager said. "Gilmathien certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
The Blackroot starter tamed the Anorien Avalanche 5-0 with a 4-hit shutout, finishing the game with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks in a sharp outing.
"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," Gilmathien said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."
This year Gilmathien has worked 115 innings with 53 strikeouts en route to a 6-9 record and a 5.71 ERA.

Blackroot rode the magical arm of Nurt Foemaker in a 1-0 shutout win over Khand. He shackled them on 6 hits and fanned 7. Almost to a man, the Khand Killers said he had them guessing wrong all game long.
This year Foemaker has compiled a 4-4 mark with a 5.15 ERA in 9 starts.
