The 2017 League Championship Series is history and the SGCBL Single A has added another champion to its record book.
Southfarthing prevailed over Hithlum today and wrote their names in it with a 12-2 victory at Southfarthing Grounds. It was the Snowthorns 2nd time to claim the title.
They compiled a 74-46 regular season record and finished up in the first spot in the Frodo League Division 1 pennant chase.

 | Thursday, August 31st, 2017: Axehead Swings for the Cycle
You might say Miruk Axehead wore out his welcome with the Hithlum Stallions. The right fielder gave them fits in today's 8-5 Southfarthing victory by hitting for the cycle.
"To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple and homerun in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. Axehead ended the day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 7 RBI and 1 run scored.
Talking to the SION reporters in the postgame interview, he said, "After the first three hits, I thought to myself, This could be the game I hit for the cycle. And I got lucky and did it."
M. Axehead hit a two-run single in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off R. Mon in the 7th and hit a two-run triple in the 8th.
This year Axehead is hitting .291 with 10 home runs and 69 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .354 clip and scored 65 runs.

 | Thursday, August 3rd, 2017: 6-Hit Barrage by Elväwen
6 hits in 7 at-bats. It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it's exciting. Today Fesur Elväwen of the Hithlum Stallions had a sensational 6-7 game against Minas Tirith at Ballpark of Hithlum. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 24-5 shellacking of the Tigers.
In the postgame press conference he joked, "Heck, that's a week's worth of hitting for me and I did it all in one day. I guess I can take the rest of the week off...Right, skipper?"
F. Elväwen flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off E. Gamialf in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Elväwen has hit at a .444 clip with 7 RBIs, 1 home runs and 9 runs scored. He has played in 13 games.
