| Breaking News |  | Saturday, August 5th, 2017: Spleengobber Hurls Lightning to Shutout Win The Erebor Fire Drakes struggled at the plate today against Lightning hurler Gromwakh Spleengobber, who shackled them on 1 hit while hurling a complete game 14-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said the Fire Drakes skipper in his postgame comments.
"Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Spleengobber finished the game with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," his manager said. "Gromwakh made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
This season Spleengobber has a 10-6 mark in 19 starts with a 2.28 ERA. He has given up 109 hits in 130 innings, struck out 73 and issued 29 walks. He hurled the Erebor Fire Drakes to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Mount Doom Maniacs, yielding 5 hits with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," the Mount Doom skipper said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders."
|  | Tuesday, July 18th, 2017: Tebrilith Smacks 5 Hits for Fire Drakes After the Erebor 13-3 victory over Mithlond and his 5-hit day catcher Kigush Tebrilith told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."
The 22-year-old player gained that distinction today at Fire Drakes Ballpark with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the Mithlond Stars.
The skipper of the Fire Drakes spoke glowingly of Tebrilith, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Kigush did that to perfection today."
K. Tebrilith doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off A. Fithramir in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.
